Quote from: AxelleI have met some post-ops, (see my post about "chips on our shoulders") and for some reason some post-op folks get this superiority thing going. I guess it makes them feel better?

Could it be rather that some (the person quoted perhaps) were envious of certain post-ops rather than a true superiority claim by those people?

Envy is a destructive thing.

Why the need to continue going after people who have left the site? Does that make the person doing so feel better? Superior? Just using the words quoted back to the person using them. What about living for today, being happy today, enjoying your surgery or whatever you are doing today? Why then need to reach out and put others down?

Envy? I think that may be it. That is too bad because I thought of the writer as a friend.

I'm kinda curious why you created a new thread on this versus responding in the thread the quote was stated in.  It feels like a low blow to the person being quoted.

But to answer your question, if I said some post ops do not feel superior to others then I would be lying. I've seen it. Not only here but on a lot of other sites too.

But then again, I've seen pre ops who do this superior thing as well. It's not just post ops.

From my experience since I have transitioned, I have noticed the following (this is regarding those who act superior and not everyone in the group):

1. Post Ops feel superior to Pre Ops and anything else in the trans umbrella; including non ops.
2. Pre Ops (transitioned and out of the closet) feels superior to non ops, pre ops who have not gone fulltime and crossdresser.
3. Pre Ops (who have not gone fulltime and not out of the closet) feels superior to crossdressers and sometimes Non Ops.

So, to say it does not happen is just simply foolish.

Then we get to the definition of superior or what constitutes someone "acting superior over overs" in the trans world.

Well, in my opinion, people acting superior in the trans world are those who say:

1.  "I've had the surgery so you are not the expert on this. I am."  Truth be told, my surgery is this week. After my surgery, I can safely say, without hesitation, that there are some pre ops and non ops who are MUCH MORE experience in this than I am. Just because I am going under the knife does not grant me a Gnostic Revelation that no one else can see.

2. You're not a real transsexual (or a real girl) because you have not met this requirement of subsection A and have not followed this label which is noted in Paragraph 4. When people start to judge others based on labeling then I feel that has a superior taste. Gender identification is not the same for everyone. If there was only one way for Gender Identification, the the Conservative right wingers would call all of us men because we have not met the natal vagina at birth under Section A2 of the Label Clause.

3. In words that are thinly disguised as "I am better than you" because "I am <insert topic>."

These are examples of people acting superior and I seen it and yes, Post Ops have done it. Pre Ops have done it, etc etc. It doesn't matter who does it; it just all sounds silly and immature when I read it on forums.

Hi Annah,

Because the original thread was locked by the admin. I could not respond to it.

I'm pointing out a concerted effort to slam previous members here. That should concern everyone. Why does it need to happen? Why not live for today?

I loved this site. I gave so much to it. And I just keep reading these negative comments.

If it was locked, it was because Admin didn't like the direction things were going in.  Constant bickering isn't what this site is about.

Still, there is a responsibility by the moderators and admins not to allow attacks on all members current or historical.

I wouldnt have felt a need to create a new account and respond to defend myself from someone I interacted directly with in a support capacity in the past.

Please just move forward and enjoy life without making attacks on the past of people who left.

then PM Axelle about it or when you created a new account, go to a moderator then through a PM.

This isn't the way to go about it. It just makes you look bad when you do this; because all I am seeing is someone very bitter trying to get the last word out over posts and then creating new threads to keep the arguments flowing.

Enough, both of you, move on.  Please.

The thread you mentioned, Valerie, was locked in order to avoid another flame war between people.

This one is now locked as well.  If this trend continues I will not hesitate to start banning people.
