So, I feel like making this in an attempt to pick myself up. If you've been noticing some of my posts in the 'FtM' subforum, you might have picked up on my slight battle with masculinity. I'm not a very masculine guy, in fact, I'm far more feminine than the rumored to be gay Mr. Seacrest. Anyway, I often struggle with dysphoria linked to my desire to be a 'proper' man, and the fact that I like the way that I am now.

When I feel like this, I remember the most inspirational figure that I've ever found in my life.

Joji Viktor Grey, whom I've sort of been internet stalking since before he was known as Joji. Largely known as Gutterface.

Seriously, to me, his journey and his personality speaks volumes. He doesn't let anyone dictate who he should be as a person and as a man. He doesn't care that he doesn't have a dick, and he never wastes his time trying to get his haters to love him. He speaks his mind and he doesn't care if you don't like it.

His photography is beautiful and a few pictures in particular hold a deep place in my heart and help keep me going.

Especially this one.

So I say, thank you, Joji.
Thank you sincerely for everything that you are, and everything that you do because you've made me a much happier and better person.

Anyway...moving on, this isn't just a thread about Joji, oh no...no no no...
I want to know your inspirations guys!
Whether they inspired you to come out, or whether they inspired you to start eating low-calorie bon-bons.
Whatever they did for you.
Show me!
How did they influence you?
What was it about them that was so inspirational to you?
And anything else that you want to mention!
They don't have to be trans themselves, of course.
Go crazy!

Andrej Pejic is my current idol. He's this gorgeous Australian model who models men's- and women's wear, and likes to be evasive about his gender and sexual preferences. I'll post a video interview once I'm back on my computer and can find it, but for now, I can dig up some luscious eye candy.

I love the way he puts androgyny in the public eye, and he presents the way I wish I could. His face is lovely, and his body is so beautifully ambiguous.

He inspires me in that he's a model for the way I want to present myself, and what I want to do with my body. All I have to do is lose one dress size, maybe two, and have top surgery.

Thanks for sharing, Julian!
I've never heard of him, but you have me completely intrigued,
I can see why you admire him so much.

And I agree with you, BlackMamba,
He's quite hot xD

'Nuther Andrej devotee here. What I love most about him is not his drop-dead gorgeousness, but his attitude. He is completely gender ambiguous and fine with it, thank you very much.

Having the same issue in the opposite direction (non-feminine trans girl), seeing her movie (http://www.artflick.com/index.html) and meeting Gwen Haworth was kinda a turning point for me - that I'm not so alone, that there are other people like me.

Girls can be ANYTHING.

Since we're talking about the other direction...I'm a longtime Tilda Swinton fan. The first time I ever saw her was as Gabriel in the movie Constantine. It was the closest representation I'd ever seen of how I felt (androgynous, masculine, but female-bodied), since I'd never even heard of transgendered people at that point in my life. Incidentally, it's the only time I ever felt attracted to a female-bodied person, which was weird and confusing until I figured out I wanted to be Gabriel rather than date Gabriel.

I didn't think much of the rest of the movie, but I would watch it again, any time, just for Tilda Swinton.

Same here.  The first time I saw her was in the movie Orlando http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107756/ where she plays someone who gender-shifts.  I remember watching and thinking, if only that were me.

Heh, I follow that tumblr so hard. He brightens my dashboard every day.

I can't seem to find that interview. :( but I'll keep trying 'cause it was great. When asked if he saw a boy or girl in the mirror, he said something like "I don't see a gender... It's not that important." and to whether he saw himself marrying a man or woman, "How can you plan that?" which has to be my favorite response to that type of question I ever heard. One day I'm going to be as ambiguous and utterly comfortable with it as he is.

Edit: here's a gif of part of the interview. http://gaydarless.tumblr.com/post/11340963746/xxboy-smoteymote-katalepsja-andrej-pejic

And that's a beautiful photograph. I was blessed with a beautiful body, it's just not quite right.
