My next step is'nt too far away. I Just have to shave my legs and my back and I can go out in mainstream. I went out with 2 other cds and a transexual 2 weeks ago out in mainstream, but in my male gear. I thought it would just help me to get used to things and how the public react to it.
Well, apart from the looks and the abuse my friends got.....I still think I can do it.
I badly want to do it. I feel I need to do it and do it quick.
I have a long range of dresses, evening gowns and skirts and have yet to be worn out in mainstream. I Get my first wig soon too, which is on laybuy and I'm getting better at putting on make-up.
On my first outting though, I want to wear a gorgous flowing gown or dress, though. I've always dreamt of this. I just want to look good and princess like, and shimmer and twirl around so my dress spins as I walk.
It sounds funny but I just need to do it.
Do you love watching ladies in public in beautiful dresses and skirts walking along with their dresses shimmering as they walk. Thats the feeling I want

Mmm...that is a great feeling.  I myself have a recently acquired outfit that I can hardly wait for warmer weather to wear outside.  I don't try to pass as female, but it still makes me feel like a princess -- that or a perfect androgyne.  It depends on my mood.

Anyway, whatever you do, consider the context in which you do it.  No one wears a ball gown to go shopping, and no one wears jeans and a t-shirt to a ball.  Either would look exceptionally out of place.  So you might have to find an occasion to wear your favorite gowns, since by their nature they just aren't everyday clothing.

Go out and enjoy yourself. Once you do it, you'll want to do it again.

PFG,

Please let us know how it goes.  You can read about my first time out not long ago.

I guess one area where we differ is that I never wanted that brazen look.  All I have ever wanted is to be in a group of people and be thought of as female.  Maybe I shouldn't care what others think, but the last thing I want to do is to stand out.

I guess we're all wired a little differently, and I truly hope you enjoy your time out.

Peace,
Kristi

I dont want to stand out, and I wont be going to a ball, but I do want to look beautiful on my very first time, and I will be strong on my feminine traits,
A long dress is essential though, cause I love them.

You can wear a long skirt without it looking like a gown and not draw alot of attention.
I'd try to blend in on your 1st outing, watch and learn, partice the movements and manerisms.

have fun.

Good Luck!  :)

I too am looking to go out for the first time, I was thinking of a club late at night, where it will be fairly dark and I will be able to drink to loosen up. Does anyone out there have experience with going out to clubs dressed?

Going out to a friendly club is often the first choice of many who want to go out in public.  I have not been out that often, but a few years ago I frequently attended meetings of the local TG support group.  They would usually get something to eat after meetings and then go to a gay bar that was TG friendly.  I only went to the bar once--it was one of the nights that they had a drag show.  This is something that I would recommend doing with a group of friends.

If you go out in public by yourself my best advice is to dress appropriately for the situation and try your best to blend in as one of the girls.  A few years ago I went out dressed en femme and strolled along the Country Club Plaza in KC.  It was great fun.

Have a great time, and like a lot have said once you go out, you'll find that your confidence will be soaring and it becomes so much easier. I remember the first time I went out and now I do it so much that I feel as though it's just a natural thing.
