So since I decided to go all out for Halloween and dress as the most realistic female I can be, I've been going through some really nice milestones with transition in general. They're still baby steps for the most part, but I finally feel like I'm getting somewhere! First of all my mom is starting to be really supportive of me. I know that she doesn't necessarily like it, but she was nice enough to buy me both a woman's razor and a large tube of Nair to help me with getting rid of my nasty body hair. She's also being really supportive of me wanting to dye my hair and get my nails done and everything, and it's making me really happy. She even told my uncle about me being transgendered and he ended up being really supportive of it!

Lastly I don't feel as trapped as I was before. This Friday my friend is gonna help me dye my hair and help me go shopping for my Halloween outfit. I haven't come out to him yet, but he's been really supportive of me doing other things and he's the one person I can think of that would help me go shopping like this. To be honest he's the closest thing I have to a girl friend . Also next week I'm hoping to take the bus down to the mall or a salon or something and get things like my nails done and my eyebrows waxed, as well as possibly get my ears pierced. I also want to see if I can get some makeup while at the mall and possibly get some pointers for how to apply it.

I guess I'm just kind of rambling now, but this is making me feel great! This is more exciting for me than things like roleplaying and video games, which is a LOT coming from me. These first steps are just making me so happy. I honestly can't wait!

Best of luck Sadie. I'd trade places with you right now. I should think the effort will be as exciting as, if not better than the result.

You'll have a wonderful time. You're living up to you name and I know many here are really proud of you.

Congrats, I'm happy for you!  I'm just a bit further along in my transition, however, relatively the same point; it's a great feeling.

Might I suggest, however, to avoid Nair if possible - it has been known to backfire or not work hardly at all.  If you've had good results from it though, that's awesome.

Congrats again :)

Dare I ask which part of my name I'm living up to? The Fighter? Or the Sadie? Or both? Now I really need to know!

Just a quick update, I used the Nair and razor today to give them a small test. I used the Nair on my thighs and the razor on my mostly-shaved calves. I have to say that so far it was a huge success. Where there once stood a forest on my thighs there is now a prairie. Maybe a grassland since there's still some VERY small hairs there. If I don't develop any reactions by tomorrow I'm going to try using that stuff on the rest of my body. It was just plain great!

Also can't wait for tomorrow to get my first set of clothes! Really debating on what type of outfit I should go for.

Great news.  Go Girl!  As Halloween is coming up, it is a great way to deflect any disrespectful comments too, you are just really getting into it!.  I am going as an "imp schoolgirl" complete with fishnets and suspender belt under my uniform! >:-)  Photo's please!!  I will try and put a photo up of myself (along with all the others I am still trying with) soon.

Nair works ok, but be careful you don't scrub too hard when doing your chest etc, as I found it is easy to give yourself a nasty graze because the skin is tender.

Karen.

So something completely unexpected happened today. I went to Walmart with my mom and ended up getting 12 pairs of panties (6 bikinis and 6 briefs), a pair of footless tights, a pair of pantyhose, a tummy-control shirt (it's a BITCH to put on and take off by the way, but it looks GREAT), a half slip, 6 pairs of trouser socks, some normal female socks, two scarves, a hairband, eyeliner, mascara, foundation, and eye shadow.

Let me just say WOW I was not expecting to do this today! My mom was going to Walmart and actually invited me to come and get some girl things! We almost went to a Save our Sisters for clothes too but we didn't have time, so I really only have undergarments for the most part. But I felt so great! My mom was even showing me the difference between women's underwear styles! I ended up spending well over $100 for all of it, but I can honestly say I don't regret any of it. I even tried on some of the makeup today (looked horrible :P).

Now I'm still going out and getting my hair dyed with my friend tonight, and we might even be able to stop at a thrift store (if one is still open at this hour) and also a Party City. This has so far been one of the best days ever!

When I actually get some exterior clothes and some makeup tips, I'll be sure to post some pics.

Thanks for all your support!

Small update: I went to K-Mart the other day (also went to Salvation Army but didn't find anything) and got a really cute shirt (that might be a little small on me) as well as some black skinny jeans. I'm still on the heavier side, but I was pretty shocked that I didn't need to shop in the plus size section. I should have pics up by Halloween! Now I just have to work on my makeup technique! And get a darker foundation haha.

The only bad part is that I didn't have time to get my ears pierced or my eyebrows waxed. Oh, and my horrible acne is acting up again :-\. But oh well, nothing I can do about that now.

I'm super excited for you Sadie. I'm in the exact same boat as you, I'm pre-everything thus far but I'm working on the baby steps which will hopefully make me more passable once I get to 'actually' transitioning.

Just the other day a bunch of my girlfriends surprised with a whole bunch of cloths and some unwanted makeup (read: I like like streetwalker.) but at least it's a start right?

You never mentioned if you had any reaction to the nair. I got the double whammy of a tropical forest resting upon sensitive skin. I have to shave my lower body ~ two days or so and even though I use copious amounts of defoliants, shaving creme, sharp razors and am sure to be extra gentle, I always always always get mad razor burn. Does anyone know how to remedy said situation? I really enjoy having my legs shaved because It's somethings that I can use to feel better about myself when I'm feeling down, but If scoot around in my seat anymore people are going to be convinced that I have ticks or something.

Oh jeez, look at the rambling. I didn't want to spew myself all over your thread, I just wanted to congratulate you.
