i'm just a little curious if all of us should be lumped under one "transgender" umbrella term?

it's just a label, if you want or don't want it, it's your personal choice.
(ps: there's a part of the terms of service about this sort of thing, I don't recommend running afoul of it)

Michelle.

These are the tops of definitions that give me a headache.

Can't we all just agree to disagree?

Or at the very least recognize each other as unique individuals who all happen to be human?

Quote10. Bashing or flaming of any individuals or groups is not acceptable behavior on this web site and will not be tolerated in the slightest for any reason.  This includes but is not limited to:

Advocating the separation or exclusion of one or more group from under the Transgender umbrella term
Suggesting or claiming that one segment or sub-segment of our community is more legitimate, deserving, or more real than any others
Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur. Happy kitty, sleepy kitty, purr, purr, purr.

If it helps these mostly two labels in contention - "transsexual" and "transgender" are the world over preferred or disliked in some way or another. And then applied to non- pre- and post-ops in various ways.
Mostly US influenced areas likely insist on the former, mostly English / European / UK / SA / NZ / AU do seem prefer the latter, and then in various ways for non- pre- and post-ops to boot.

If I say "prefer" - folks I met from any of those places, often do so with a vengeance! Being totally insistent in having it right... all the rest NOT having it right.

So, since we are not trying to fix the world, we have to use diplomacy and not act like former politburo members, holding the worlds only wisdom :-)

The above may give the OP some perspective as to what we are dealing with, about just THOSE two labels.

Best advise: - "Let sleeping dogs lie" :-)

PS: NO IDEA how China would like to have it....

Hi Jamie, welcome back.

From one member to another I will say it as gently but as clearly as I can and maybe save you some grief. The gender binary is a view that is not welcome here. It is why so many members have left or have gone silent. It is okay to be surgery tracked and wish to be rid of penises, testicles, breasts, ovaries, hair, grow or reduce muscle mass, or be rid of poisonous hormones in ones body but it is not okay to express physicality of gender or transition of the body without strong objections and declared offensive. Even describing it as a personal view of yourself is seen as being divisive because it implies you think less of others.

So I would say, based on my own experience here, you may want to limit your expression to helping those ladies who can benefit from your experience and leave politics to the transgender advocates. There is no such thing as gender here. Males can have babies and females can have and love their penises and use them to penetrate others, yet still be female.

That's just the way it is. hugs,

Val

I think that just because a group of people are under an umbrella doesn't mean they agree on everything (or necessarily anything), just that they are trying to get out of the rain.
Nameless here for evermore!;  Merely this, and nothing more;
Tis the wind and nothing more!;  Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore!!"
