I would just send a pm as I don't think this really warrants a post but as a new user I am not able to do it myself (privileges) and I can not send pms to anyone including the staff.

well, for now i think you could just go on profile, summary, and then account settings. you type in a new display name, but i think the original user name you start off with is unchangeable by anyone other than a moderator. you would still have to type in your default username for logging in, but the new name you choose will be the one that displays.
