Anyways on all the other forums I use, a-lot of people use gifs. It's also a way of showing emotion like - 

For example instead of having a borderline emoticon ( )

You could use this instead or both.


Anyways I've been using them for years now and it's just a different type of smiley face.

it would fall under user posted image guidelines, in the example you posted, it wouldn't be allowed due to file size of the image
