I was wondering which one is better for me? Oh & my "Fitzpatrick Skin Color" would be a three. I can't find that much information on either of them. Could someone suggest some resources or explain which one would work.  ???

Thank you,  :)

I'm not an expert, but I'll fill you in on what I know so far. I'm getting my first laser next Friday. I originally wanted to do electrolysis instead, but they recommended that I do laser first then electrolysis to follow up with what the laser didn't get.

They both are equally good from what I hear.

Laser - takes a high power light and and flashes it on your face duh. jk. But the light power is suppose to travel through the dark pigment of the hair and disrupt it from the blood supply. Which in fact will cause it from not growing. However, I think in order to disrupt if from the blood supply it needs to be at its weakest (the first two weeks of growth), so which is why you have to do several sessions. Laser works best when the skin is fair and the hairs are dark, because it travels through the pigment.  The good thing about laser is that you can hit a large area in one flash.

Electrolysis - takes a small filament wire and insert it into the hair follicle (deep == pain), then heat up the wire which will cause a reaction to crystallize, then they pluck it. They have to do that for each hair.

Pretty much the idea I see most people do is get the laser first to knock out most of the hairs. Then go back and get the hairs that laser didn't get like the white whiskers. You should possibly go and get a consultation with the place to see what strategy the prefer. Also I believe the pain is equally as much either way, just different feeling.

Just a side note: I'm just giving what I know so far about it. Someone else might be able to know more. If I find a good link, I'll post it.

Go to a laser technician for an evaluation. If you're not a bad candidate, go for it. Do as much as you can with laser, because electrolysis is much more expensive for the same amount of hair. Then do electrolysis with whatever remains.
