Recently I felt like I wanted to buy a nice bra. May be a little something sexier than a sports bra which is what I've worn so far. I really don't need a bra for support as I'm only cup A.

I knew the basics of the sizing of the bra but the experience of buying one taught me a lot more than I expected so I thought I'd share my experience. I spent like 3 hours just bra shopping!

It's easy to buy a sports bra but with the lace style bra is totally different story. Yes, you can measure your breast circumference and figure out your cup size but it doesn't really end there.

Every bra is a little different and so will be the fit. I measured my circumference to be 40" and breast cup size A. Well, good luck finding size 40A! There are hardly any 38A. 36A is where you'll start seeing some choice. You must use strep extenders but that messes up the fitting of the shoulder streps causing them to fall off. The only solution is if a bra has detachable shoulder streps so you can get shoulder strep extenders. JOENA was a place I find some. They were already pre made so all I needed to do is mount them on. The bra strep extender will give you up to 4"of extension. Now you must cross the shoulders streps on your back in order to make this useful or you could try to get a simple shoulder strep tightener that comes in between the shoulder streps on you back but I personally went with the crossed shoulder streps in the back. Please note there are shoulder strep extenders and bra strep extender. Not the same thing
However if the space between the cups is not extendable you may run into cups being too close to each other which makes inappropriate fit and bad look. Smaller breast circumference bra implies your boobs  being rather closer to each other which is likely not the case for the person of larger chest.

Also the bra extenders at Victoria Secret did not line up with the bra hooks. They were much wider on the extenders. The same thing at the Nordstrom. At JC Panny they were matching and they come as single, double or triple rowed hooks. You must match them up according to the bra of your choice.

Sales personal at Nordstrom works on commission which means they will be dancing around you and help you find the right fit. This means they will look at you in the fitting room with only the bra on you. :o
I found this very unnerving but you have to go along with it as it is just normal "Certified Fit Consultants" behavior.
Wax or shave your chest for that reason if you have some hairs and may be I'm paranoid but I'd tuck as well! I don't go anywhere without tucking anymore as it makes me feel very uncomfortable otherwise.

Padding is another choice to make. I was presented with various sizes of padding in cloth or silicon options at Victorias Secret. I have to say I was shocked when I saw how much cheating your money can buy. I personally didn't get any but I went with padded bra. There are bras where you can remove this inserts out of their pockets which is what I would recommend. Mine does not have that option and although I went with minimal padding it feels like I have huge boobs. It doesn't look necessarily like that in the mirror but it is definitely something to get used to for me. Besides growing breasts tend to hurt so a little padding gives you a little protection too in case you bump into things which is what I do due to the type of my work.

It's FUN wearing  a sexy bra, it makes me enjoy myself a little more!
'hope this is helpful, I wished I knew these things before I went in.

Thanks for sharing...

When you have A-cups you are sometimes limited for choice. I am glad you had a good time bra shopping. For me its something so female and helps you feel female.

I have B-cups now, but my breasts are growing again.. so I am hoping for C cup soon..

I understand how you feel, when wearing a sexier bra. I love wearing sexy underwear too. Its something for you.. and when you are in public only you know its there. Something exciting about that.

My favourite bra is my push up bra,,, it makes my breasts look very good
Enjoying ride the hormones are giving me... finally becoming the woman I always knew I was

Bra-shopping is rather fun. I always enjoy it :)

... of course, not having breasts (or not being able to find an appropriate size) is kind of a downer at times, but finding and wearing a cute bra usually offsets that little bit of mud in the soup.

5'2" and 95 lbs? Those figures are creepily similar to mine.

D's though... wow. My sister deals with that, and at 4'10". For the tall ones, D's are great, but I can only imagine that it would indeed be annoying to have half your weight on your chest!

Excuse the hyperbole. :P

wow girl your a rarity as am i lol. atleast in the trans world. cool. yea you do kinda look my weight. like face wise.

im actually a 34c and honestly girl they look small i think, they really dont look that big, they look big wen i wear a push up bra. like a d cup. so i wanna go bigger so they can look the way they do in a push up bra normally without havin to wear a damn push up bra. that wire of bra gets annoying. i feel like im in a damn corsett ugh horrible.

im 450 cc and gonna geet 500cc. trust me girl get 500cc if u want to be noticed cuz anything less than that will just make u look perky, but if perkys what u want get 450 or less. :>

Well. I think I'm headed for a modest (cough) C, really. Perhaps I'll change my mind later... in any case, a BA is a long time from now. I'm aiming for a natural look; and besides, anything bigger than a C and, frankly, I'd fall over. Haha!

Mm. 5'2". That makes me exactly one inch taller. Can I call you midget? :p 'Twould be an affectionate nickname, I assure you.

Being short is fun... I don't mind getting teased real good every now and then. It's all in fun.

belive it or not i have 450 and sometimes it feels like i aint got ->-bleeped-<- there, lol. 500 cc is only 50 ccs bigger it wont be much of a diffrence. so u dont have to worry about feeling like there too bog or in the way unless u get 550 or bigger

Well, as it stands, I don't even know if I have enough breast tissue to properly accomodate 500ccs. It's a waiting game though. I mean, I've gotta do FFS, and SRS, and stuff first...

Oh. How much does Dr. Z charge for that procedure? I've heard of his BAs from a few people.

My SRS will be with Brassard... probably early 2013 or late 2012. I have to wait a bit, because of provincial medical coverage and whatnot. Not that I'm complaining!

(I know I don't need FFS, but it'd be nice to control my brow ridge and nose. I'd leave the rest of me untouched - I may have some strong features, but I kind of like how striking they are!)
