I need size 5 steel toed boots (for welding) I am trying not to spend a ton of money since once I go on T my feet will grow. My friend says redwing sells them but I am not willing to spend 200$ on something that is going to be grown out of within a year. Anyone got a under 100$ solution?

i usto work at payless shoes and they always sell steel toe boots for men, and construction workers would always come in and buy em. there like a beige yellow color. and cost like 30 bucks. 40 at most

These are just a few that I found that fit size and budget. They have more of a selection but they're usually missing out on one requirement or the other. *shrugs* Hope you find what you're looking for.

Try Army/Navy surplus stores, look for black SeaBee boots.

I have a pair of boots I bought at Walmart that have lasted all year so far through molten plastic and hydraulic oil ( Gosh, my job sounds so amazing doesn't it?)
I would recommend them to you but I do have experience welding and I would not recommend my style. Definitely go with leather boots, they don't tend to melt much from the occasional spark shower or dropped piece of hot metal. Also, I would recommend getting some Starter brand work socks. Black if you can. Grey tends to get stiff and rough over time, white is okay, but the black ones have stayed fluffy. they are a bit thicker than regular socks but make all the difference and offers some cushioning. 

Your feet might grow on T. Might.
Don't set yourself up for disapointment.

Yeah, mine didn't grow at all and I've been on T for 2 years.

Wow I thought they would definitely get bigger so I've been putting off getting new shoes. 

Sorry to bear bad news but you can not count on it.
It might happen but even if they do grow you are unlikely to grow more than a half size.
(unless you are not yet finished growing and the growth plates have not yet fused, then you could very well have a growth spurt)

I know nothing is guaranteed but it seems like most report going up a size or two, even those past puberty. I already wear a 9 and don't have a problem finding shoes my size. I'm starting T in a few weeks and don't want to out grow shoes I just got. I'm 22 and pretty sure I'm done growing. 18-21 I did grow 3 inches though.

My spouse only put on about a quarter of a shoe size. Before transition my shoes were just a tad loose on hir and her shoes were just a tad tight on me. Now my feet have shrunk just a tad and hirs grew just a tad and we both have the same shoe size now.

This is a win for me. I have like doubled the shoes I have access to in this house!!!

I wear Chippewa steel-toe boots, and I got them for about $175. I've had them for a little over a year now and they're still hardy and intact. Granted, they're not work boots, soooo... yeah. That's a big difference. The other thing is that they're a 10 in dude's, so finding a 5 could be a little difficult. Good luck!

Or, rather, they are work boots but I don't use them for work!! :/

From experiance in this matter I would say get a pair of redwings. You get what you pay for.

no no no. the ones at payless are 40 bucks and they have lasted my roomate forever hes had em for like 10 years.

I would tear up a pair of those cheepies in a matter of 4 months. Redwings lasted me 2-3 years.
The extra money is worth the quality.

(yes I was hell on a pair of boots)
