Okay, so lately my right nipple has been really hurting me. I forgot to tell my doctor about it a week or so ago, so I'm kind of at a loss right now. I don't know what's going on... but my first guess is that the pain is from my breasts growing out, I.E. hormones. Does this really occur in the nipple area, though? And what scares me more, why is this happening only for the right side? o.o

Yes. It's normal. Your breast buds start out behind the nipple and grow outwards. They may itch too. But it will be pretty tender for some time, as will the other. Just try to avoid being hit in the chest area. It can be as painful as a kick to the groin, only it goes away a heck of a lot quicker. I'm 8 months on HRT And they are still fairly tender.

Yay! I really hope they both hurt for me too sometime soon (wow, that is so masochistic!). I always have this fear that one boob will be significantly bigger than the other, and I'll have to go through life kind of lopsided. :/

No itching but every once in a while I'll get hugged or my hand with brush against it... and something as simple as that causes pain. What a nuisance! >.>

Actually if its a single nipple it could be nipple thrush - Mastitus. I have had this as a recurrent problem on one breast. Best to see a Doctor especially if the itching comes with stabbing pain. I have had a breast exam, but they found nothong and it was diagnosed as Nipple thrush. Not something that a TG expects.
