Today I came out over facebook, in a status update.
So far things have gone well. just waiting to see how the rest of the people on my facebook take it.
Overall i'm pretty glad that i've got it off my chest - it feels like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders.
This is what I put
'Just thought i'd let you know since some people are confused about the name change.
I identify as male and wished to be addressed as such.
if you want to stop talking to me because of that, it's fine i'll understand.
Please don't be afraid to ask questions.'

What have people been saying? Just wondering so I can get a basic idea of what to expect if/when I do this.

I've been wanting to do this over on my male fb account as well, but I don't have the guts to do it yet haha.

Nice going though. Good to know people are already taking it rather well. I hope the rest does too!

I'm afraid if I do it via facebook most people won't take it seriously... they will think someone hijacked my account.

Pretty much I've gotten that I was brave for posting it, omg I didn't know. People might ask some questions, so be prepared to answer them. some might be like what's transgender, how long have you known?, should I call you this x and use x pronouns. but be prepared for some people to be rude about it since it could happen, but remember 'Those who matter don't mind, and those who mind don't matter."

Well you wont know until you've tried it, do it when you feel ready to and feel confident.  maybe a counsellor could help you with it?
