Felix

I'm just going to repost here to clarify that my daughter's middle name is not Felix. I changed my display name from kael once I got used to the idea that Felix works for me. :)

I love everyone's stories about their usernames.

oviabshe

It's a combination between the nickname of my favorite hockey player (Alex Ovechkin: Ovi) and the strange thing I used to call my pet gerbil (Abshe, even though his name was actually Napoleon.)
  •

Thrall

mine is from World of Warcraft.

he's one of my favorite characters in the lore (and i find a lot of parallels with my own life, that's why.)

Heavenlywind

I got my user name from one of my favorite places in the world 吴山天风. A very beautiful place to go and the scenery is beyond words.

Kristin

I picked openheart because I needed something that was gender neutral.

At the time I joined a few months ago, I wasn't ready to commit to anything, and I was trying to be careful not to present myself as something I'm not while I figured out who I was. (The main question: Am I a woman or do I just want to be one?)

I also don't want a name that would connect people to my legal (and still-closeted) name and I hadn't yet picked a name I was sure I'd be happy with (though as time's gone by, I seem to be stuck with Kristin...was the first one I told my wife about and though I might choose differently were I to try again, it's a name I like and it has the benefit of having not having strong associations from my past. I knew of a couple of Kristins/Kristys in school but none were in my grade, etc.)

Um, so back to my username...I wanted something kind of feminine but not gendered. And I wanted something I could use for a new Gmail account (though I had to add numbers to it there), because I didn't want to risk using my main e-mail account and be to too easily identified by my legal/everyday name. Damn closet!

I like it, it's French and female

I like serial killers too. My fave is BTK.

Before I did anything about my dysphoria, when I was really angry & depressed, I was into serial killers; now its like wtf was I thinking, lol.

Venus-Castina

I decided not to use my real name to remain at least shred of anonymity.
Venus Castina is an epithet of the ancient goddess Venus or Aphrodite. In this form she was the goddess of female souls locked in male bodies.
(It seems those ancients had deities for nearly everything)

Lyric

A few years ago I had a day off from work and heard on the news about a promising young actress who was tragically murdered by her ex-boyfriend. Reading about her online, I kind of became something of a fan and caught her remaining TV appearances. I even made a donation to a charity in her name set up by her family. Her name was Lyric, which is a really unusual, but interesting name. I decided one way I might honor her life might be to name myself Lyric online. Offline my name is a feminized version of my given middle name.

Anyway, I'm Lyric here and at some other forums and places. I had a Lyric Yahoo blog until they Yahoo shut down their blogs. For awhile Lyric ran a wig shopping tips website, but I had to abandon that one due to lack of time. I'm @LyricSays on Twitter, though I don't check in there as often as I'd like.

Haha, same. I almost bought the box set of the TV show "Most Evil" which features documentaries on them and rates them on a "scale of evil" from 1-22. Now that you say it, my interest in them started to decline around the same time my dysphoria did.

I chose Shades O'Grey because I don't see the world in black and white, in binary options.

Also, I'm part Irish.

It's a decent way to test out your name when nobody in real life is actually willing to call you what you ask them to  :(

I haven't asked anyone yet, but I've found just associating my stuff with my chosen name helps me test it out and see how it fits. As to how I chose my name, I kind of just saw it on a baby name site and it clicked. It was a bit weird, because objectively I didn't know if I liked it or not, but it just felt so...me.  :P

Jen61

Everybody (mostly my doughters) say I look like Jen Aniston, you know: slim, small boobs, blue eyes, blond, and tall. So Jen, the 61 comes from 6 kids plus me (1)

  •

Noah James

My username is my name.  :P

Noah is what my mother would have called me, had I been born biologically male.
James is a family name on my father's side.
