Okay, so I'm having this really strange recurring nightmare and I'm not quite sure what it means. If anybody has a clue, I'd love to hear it!

Now, for anyone that doesn't know, Jocelyn is not full-time yet and as such, she doesn't dress that often. However, I always see her as Jocelyn regardless of how she's dressed (this will help you understand my perspective in the dream).

The dream always starts with me and Jocelyn making out and I'm really enjoying it. However, certain, ah, things, happen that suddenly clue me into realizing that it's not really Jocelyn.  I'm overcome with guilt for having enjoyed it to that point and I try to push away the imposter "Josh". Imposter Josh however tries to hold me down and tries to force himself on me. I become physically violent in an attempt to run away and usually wake up at that point.  It feels so real to me that when I wake up I'm worried that I've hit Jocelyn during my sleepfighting, but she's always sleeping soundly next me. I can't for the life of me figure out the actual meaning of this, but I've had the dream about four times in the past few months.  I've told Jocelyn about it but she's drawing a blank too, although she's amused at my hatred of "evil Josh".

Penny for your thoughts?

I think that dreams are just firing neurons in your brain and your logic attempts to put together those thoughts together in a story to attempt some understanding. I don't believe that there is any real significance to dreams.

I have often had dreams of people chasing me with an intent to kill. The dreams are quite bizzare as I run from one impossible situation to another, barely escaping with my life.

And then there are those dreams where I have a test to take in college and I can never quite get there. Every obstacle in the world presents itself in order to block my attempt to get there on time.

They may be a collection of thoughts that are on my mind. But I don't attach any real significance to their meaning in my life. I'd go crazy!

Why does it have to be the same story, though? It's so aggravating! True, I've also had dreams about the things I worry about, like the exam one you mentioned. I had this take home exam in Chemistry over spring break and it just made what to bang my head against the wall over and over and over again! I had this nightmare (in true Hermione style, no less) of my Chem professor handing me back the exam with a big red 42 on it. It was horrible! I guess this is why I think there is some significant in my dreams. Not like prophesies or anything like that, but inner conflicts that I haven't worked out yet. You don't know how many times I've dreamed of saying goodbye the cousin I lost when I 13. I never got to say goodbye to her in real life. Maybe if I'd had this dream once it would be nothing to me. I think there must be something there because of it's recurrance...I just don't know what.

I think My dreams are "What IF" siduations brought up by my mind to see how I would handle the siduation.
99% of the time the dreams I have are on aireas where I'm not exactly sure how I'ed handle it ! and there for I look at them as a primmer, a test
a pre-cursor ,so if the siduation ever confrunts me in real life I have a way of handleing it already set up.

what me paranoid ? WHO's ASKIN !

HEHEHEHE
if you apply this to your dream I think you will find there is a reason for the dream... something your not sure about... something you don't know how to handle.... so figure out a way to handle it and the dream will stop!

Now one has to realize that a random dream and a recurring dream are actually different.  I have heard a dream interpreter on the radio interpret various people's recurring dreams and from listening, dreams seem to be mostly a symbolic metaphor for what is going on in a person's life, although some aspects of it may be more literal.  If I was going to take a stab at interpreting this based on what I know about you, I would say that it say that you are in love with Jocelyn.  She is not able to transition at the moment and perhaps this is frustrating you and no matter how much you would like her to be Jocelyn in the flesh, she isn't and this feels like "Josh" forcing himself on you.  Since you are not able to fight this inability to transition, your next reaction is to run.  Maybe I'm not right because I'm obviously no expert, but perhaps this helps somewhat.

I had this nightmare last night that somebody kept calling me sir over the phone over and over. :'(  I hope it's not recurring, but the interpretation is pretty obvious and at least it doesn't happen in real life.  The dream I had the night before was quite interesting (more of a sci-fi story though).

Just for the record I have to disagree with this as a whole however do agree for MOST people this to be the case. I on the other hand have both regular type dreams like everyone else and reccurring dreams that have almost ALL been precognitive in nature. This is absolute fact as I dreamnt months in advance of Huricane Katrina repeatedly and the dreams are documented on another message board along the way leading up to the actual event.

WRT to Angels dream, I can only hypothersize it has more to do with her and Jocelyn and transition and the reality of their day to day waking life. As she stated Jocelyn rarely dresses and presents as man Josh in her recurring dream and Angel is enjoying the lovemaking up until she realizes it is Josh and not Jocelyn. IMHO I would say that the dream is Angel's way of recognizing her own need for Jocelyn's transition.

I am not a dream expert althoug, because of my precognitive dreams to which I have had since very early childhood I have participated in many clinical dream and sleep studies. I have also done much research on dreams both regular and paranormal in nature.

Ok I'm throwing you a long ball of string. Tied the end to you toe and when you start thrashing in your dream I'll jurk the string and wake you up.

Better yet take control of your dream. When you get to the part that it looks like "Josh" in your mind reach down and pull of a mask to find Jocelyn...then continue on how you want it to end.

Leah shared this method of makng dreams to go away whenthe boys were small. I too have used it and it works for us.

Indeed ! Controling your dreams are very possable !
I've done it many times and I have also failed many times, it seams as though some dreams are controlable and some are not...
i find it madening when in a dream I don't think correctly... its like the neathandral I used to be kicks in and I can't turn it off <GRIN>
the old Hunter and hunted scheam but sometimes I can brake through and say Hay ! this isn't right ! I wouldn't think that, NOW ! I've learned better than that... etc.etc.
but controling your own dream is simply not being a victom to them.
you are the one haveing the dream, makeing it happen, take control of the siduation and not a passive relationship to the dreams.
the hardest part I think is realiseing you are dreaming in the first place.... its not easy to do ! infact your mind purposely hides that fact from you very carefully,  else whats the point !  the whole point is to see how you react to diferent siduations, what you'ed do if.....
if you know its a dream then you can vurtually do anything and it doesn't matter !  so your anilitical mind knows this all too well and hides the fact that your dreaming from you very well in most cases...
however in re-occureing dreams you can easily nip them in the bud by realiseing they are dreams especially if they are mean nasty horrable dreams... you know what they are like, so you are afore-warned ! when you realise the signs that is the time to take action,  I have had extreamily good luck at stopping nightmares by simply confrunting the problem head on, no matter how scary it seams. though that doesn't mean it will work for you by any means , it certainly works for me ....
as I told Tinkerbell one time, instead of running scared, grab a table leg and beat the baddie over the head with it ! ... don't be a victom in your dream, be the victor !
...
thats my view anyway !

According to a dream dictionary I have lets pick out some specifics: [The Complete Book of Dreams & Dreaming by Pamela Ball] This isn't meant to tell you entirely what it means, just maybe some info that may help (or may not). I am not a dream expert myself. Not even a amateur lol. Its the book talking.

[I looked up information on nightmares]

Sometimes in dreams there is an intensity of emotion which can be extremely frightening. One of the features of nightmares is feeling stuck in impossible situations or of trying to escape. Often there appears to be no explanation for this until we explore past experiences and anxieties. Being able to disentangle such disturbing images, and treat them in isolation, breings greater understanding of our doubts and fears.

Nightmares arise from 6 main causes
    1. Childhood memories of intense emotions.
    2. Childhood fears including fear of being attacked, and anxiety of one's internal drives. This may be to do with the child's need for survival.
    3. Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome
    4. Fear of the Future will arise as fears connected with aggressin, sexuality, and fear of change and growth. It is the fear of the unknown.
    5. Sense of foreboding. People are capable of picking up information on a subliminal level, without being able to understand that information.
    6. Serious illness with all its fear surrounding death.

Recurring dreams can have an element of anxiety about them. They are triggered by anxiety.

[I tried to find some making out references]

Kissing When we dream of Kissing someone it can suggest an acceptance of a new relationship with that person. We are sealing a pact. Being kissed indicates that we are appreciated and loved for ourselves.
Intercourse (Petting) The wish or need to be able to communicate with someone on a very intimate level can translate  into intercourse in a dream.
Intercourse Interupted The dreamer may have inhibitions of which he or she is not consciously aware.

[as for you and Jocelyn and or Josh, I tried to look up what the people might mean]

People The people in our dreams are the characters which we write our "play". Often they appear simply as themselves, particularly if they are people we know or have a relationship with in the here and now. We may introduce them in order to highlight a specific quality or characteristic. We may also permit them into our dream scenario as projections of our inner life or state of being. Finally, they may signify someone who is more important than the dreamer.

In order to disentangle the various types of 'information' which each character brings to the dreamer, it is often necessary to decide what or who each one makes us think of. That way we will reveal the deeper meanings and connections.

Man Any Man appearing in a dream shows an aspect of facet of the dreamer's character in a recognisable form. Each of Us has a repertoire or portfolio of behavior, some of which are acceptable and some of which are not. In dreams those behaviors and characteristics can be magnified so that they are easily identified, often as personalities. By working with  the characteristic, more energy and power becomes available. Even when we are threatened by a negative character trait, we can still access room for improvement.

A man in a dream can Identify the Shadow for a man, and the Animus (masculine self) for a woman. The Shadow appears in a dream as the person whom the dreamer fails to recognise; a vague instinctual figure, somtimes standing behind the dreamer. Often the initially this figure appears to be the opposite sex of the dreamer and can therfore be confused with the animus or anima. It is only later that it is accepted as the same sex. It is the part of his/her potential that the dreamer never developed; this is the neglected side of the individual. It contains those aspects of his/her character that have already been thwarted and frustrated; but above all, parts which have never been recognized.

Old man = innate wisdom, large man= strength, certainties, and protection which our basic beliefs give us. A man in a woman's dream signifies the logical masculine side of her nature. She has, or can develop , all the aspects of the masculine which enable her to function with success in the external world. If the man is one she knows or loves, she may be trying to understand her relationship with him. An unknown man is generally that part of the dreamer's personality which is not recognized. In a woman's dream it is the masculine side of herself (animus and or shadow), and the man's dream it is the self.

Woman Any woman (friend or family member) often represents aspects of one's own personality, but often one not yet fully understood. In a man's dream such a figure denotes his relationship with his own feelings and with his intuitive self. It may also denote and show how hre relates to his female partner.  Unknown woman It represents a anima (feminine self) in a male and the Shadow in a woman's.

Everyone has his or her individual Shadow, and it is nearly always the worst side of themselves. One way to consciously meet the shadow is to think of all the things we dislike most about people, add to it everything we find hard to deal with in people's treatment of fellow people, and imagine what sort of a person this would be. At first reaction , we are thankful we are not lie that, but if we ask our family and loved ones if they can perceive those qualities within us, the answer will probably be yes. When we can honestly sit down and pinpoint the behavior patterns within ourselves, we are moving towards wholeness. Often we will have the obsessive dislike of one particular set of characteristics, which if we are honest, frighten us because they are only just below the surface within ourselves. The Shadow may appear in our dreams as someone we heartily dislike, are afraid of, or envy, but whom we cannot ignore. We begin to grow when we realise that some change in circumstance has given us opportunity to bring it to the surface rather than ignore it in the hope that it will go away.

Villian Archetype The villian is completely selfishly involved, not caring who he tramples on in his search. He is often the aspect of masculinity women first meet in everyday relationships, so can remain in  dream images as a threatening figure if she has not come to terms with his selfishness.

[Other part of dream you may consider, that I can look up if you want]

Also the environment (buildings, setting, rooms, location) would help explain the constructs (beliefs and attitude) one has for the situation.

[Hope the book helps or at least helps you think about it.      Kendra/Ken]

Okay... I used to have this dream where my ... um... ding a ling would pop out of my vagina.  I'd sure like to know what the experts think of that one!

Fortunately that one has long gone and been replaced with nothing. I can only remember a couple dreams recently and the details are missing.  But they gave me some incredible and real orgasms.

I can't believe what I'll put in a post.  Sheesh.

Now I certainly am not going to be able to offer the same kind of detail that Ken/Kendra was pulling from the book but I've usually got some insight into what dreams "may" mean based on extensive dream interpretation over the last 20 years. So let me throw out a quick assessment and take it for what it is, just my interpretation.

First off people almost never represent who they actually are. Its important to note that you see Jocelyn as Jocelyn and not as a specific gender which means most likely Jocelyn is just a character in the dream and doesn't involve them. This is going to sound very vague.

QuoteThe dream always starts with me and Jocelyn making out and I'm really enjoying it.

In doing something you enjoy that makes you happy you have experienced some sort of problem that makes you question why you are doing that. You feel you made a mistake because you didn't have a clear picture of the real situation. You try to correct the situation but it gets quickly out of control. You eventually feeling cornered result to drastic measures that try to again correct the situation but more directly.

Now without knowing you well I'd have trouble coming up with a real situation from your life that may have you subconciously thinking about this at night. Considering it is reoccuring, its probably something significant or still present. Let me throw out a couple of hypotheticals situation that would match this, one serious and one not so much.

Lets say you've been eating a lot of ice cream lately which you really enjoy. You find though that maybe its been putting some extra unwanted weight on you. Maybe you didn't realize that the ice cream would effect you as dramatically for having eaten that little. You try to start dieting maybe but it ends up getting just outright unpleasant and you opt for something more extreme to try to fix it fast like skipping meals. Thats the less serious one.

Dreams like to talk about jobs a lot too so the serious one will be about a job. Lets say you have recently taken a lucrative job that seems like its going to be a great opportunity. After you've commited to working the job and started it, you find out that maybe the atmosphere or job responsibilities are not what you expected and you regret having gone through the trouble of getting hired. You feel like you didn't have a clear understanding of what the job was really about until after it was too late. You attempt to leave the job maybe but find that you are already obligated in some way to finish some sort of work load, perhaps under the threat of a lawsuit or something. You eventually feeling cornered result to a more drastic measure and just up and quit ignoring the consequences.

Now of course those are just examples, I don't know your day to day experiences or else I could probably id something in your life that fits this theme. Think about what maybe worries you the most or consistantly and see if it fits.

Good luck with finding your solution.

Marq and Mia
Being given the gift of two-spirits meant that this individual had the ability to see the world from two perspectives at the same time. This greater vision was a gift to be shared, and as such, Two-spirited beings were revered as leaders, mediators, teachers, artists, seers, and spiritual guides

Thanks everybody for helping try to figure that out!

I've come to the conclusion that it's actually a battle between my heterosexual desires and my homosexual desires.  As a bisexual I occasionally feel like I'd enjoy a heterosexual encounter (it's been almost two years for me and well...let's just say that I liked men for sex!) but I rationalize it away because I love Jocelyn and end up feeling guilty for primal desires. I guess my real issue has been that I've been afraid to admit this because I didn't want to make Jocelyn feel inadequate as a lover or to make her worry about my faithfulness, but now that we've discussed it everything has returned to normal (well, as normal as I ever get anyway)  So if I have that dream again, all I have to do is conjure up a female-bodied Jocelyn and have an orgy!  >:D

Before or after SRS Cindi?

I would suggest the dream was merely one of fear, of SRS not "sticking" that it would reverse itself.

I have found that dreams can sometimes showcase deepseated fears, or insecurities.
