I am looking for books or documentary films on TG. I am dating a TG from AZ I live in KY I know it is a long distance relationship but it is one that is working. We meet up on MySpace at first it was just freindly emails me asking questions for information on TG subjects. Then all of sudden it blosumed it was as we were connected mind and body. There were so many thing that are the same with us and some differences. By the end of this year she is moving here to be with me and my children. My children  already consider her to be there second mother. Which was a shock to me except my son he is in the GSA club at school he is straight but want to stand up for the rights of GBLT people. You see me and my girlfreind already consider our selves husband and wife. In the next 6 years we want to open up a TG resort/counsouling center here in town or some where it is needed most. This woman is the love of my life and what to help her at much as possible to be by her side when the spa/counsouling center open I do not want to be burden to her goals i want to be an ascet. She is my love and my life.  :)

I normally don't push my own book... but since you asked, I wrote one. Click on the link in my sig.

There are a number of good books recently published. Just do a search on "transgender" at Amazon for the recent titles.

Hi, FW!

Our WIKI has a section on TG related films that you might use.  Not too much on books, though.  An oversight that we need to correct.

Cindi I really want to buy and read your book and intend too as soon as I get done with this mystery move of mine (still have no idea where I am going lol). Anyhow I am afraid to order anything and it arrive after I leave.
I do however want to run down to the bookstore and grab a TS related book to read on the trip when we are taking breaks etc. Other than Cindi's book what do you all suggest as being authentic and good?

I too am in a long distance relationship with a TG (I am GG). Brooke is in NY and I am currently in Cali.

Your resort plan sounds awesome....do you plan on doing it IN KY??? I would love to help!!!

Hi Togetherwecan,

   I've read these so far:

Squirrel Cage - by the Mysterious Cindi Jones

She's not there  - by Jennifer Finney Boylan

Stone Butch Blues  - by Leslie Feinberg

To Be A Woman   - by Jerry/Jerri McLain

I have a stack of books someone loaned me. Maybe later, I can get the rest of the names and add them here. I think one of them is 'transgender warriors' by Leslie Feinberg. I just haven't read it yet.

Is there a particular one you personally suggest?

Hi,

I would suggest 2 of the 4 books over the others. This is a little embarrassing because one of the authors has access to this post, but I mean what I say.

I would suggest "Squirrel cage" & "Stone Butch Blues".

The reason I chose these 2 books is because the writers faced some serious social difficulties. Cindi had the Mormon organization adding to the already personal struggle between herself and her family. Leslie Feinberg had to face the world in a way, hopefully, none of us will ever experience. I really appreciated how Cindi ended her story. It shows the author in a positive environment having some personal success.

The 2 books I didn't choose are good books too, however, they are more personal and I have a need to understand these struggles within a larger social context.

Peace,

Rebecca
