The story of the Three Hundred Spartans has always fascinated me.  I will paint an analogy of this epic to what transgender means to me.  Of course I welcome all those that want to share their feelings via analogies, dreams or whatever works for them.

My analogy is told by little y of the Xy pair.

I have fought the gender issue in my head my whole life and I have convinced people I am a male.  The Three Hundred Spartans are the little y inside of me.  For a lifetime they blocked the million Persians at the pass of Thermopylae.  (Guess which gender the Persians are?)  The Spartans would rather die then admit defeat  They fought bravely and held a stalemate for an impressive period of time. 

A traitor among the Spartans (which was named Female Hormones in this analogy) allowed the Persians to get around the  blockade.   The Spartans were defeated.

That is how I feel!

I had a reoccurring dream when I was a young girl around age 12.  I was attacked by many boys and I needed to kill them in my dream to stay alive.  I kept killing them.  I also was attacked by armies and armies of girls.  I never killed the girls.  When I got to hand-to-hand combat with the girls the attacks were not fatal but somewhat sensuous.  I never understood this dream.

I too enjoy the historical tale of the 300 Spartans (plus the other 1000 that were with them).  I've never managed to make the leap to transgender issues though.

Still, we do need to figure out how to fight off the minions to become whole (and not dead!).

   I saw a history thing on TV that said the Spartans had a custom the night before battle where they would take off thier clothes and entirely oil up their bodies.

  When I think of this, I actually lose control of my breathing! WOOOO!

it is an interesting tale, and those transgender analogies were interesting....apparently the spartans fighting in me were like 10 vs 1million, the battle didnt last long at all


the movie on the other hand was one of the biggest testosterone fests i have ever seen......the choreography was great, some well played out battles, but you get the point in the first twenty minutes of it.  The only part I really liked a lot was when the queen stabbed the backstabbing politician in the gut about halfway through......my mom and i were like "oh yeah".

Saw an interesting show on PBS, last year I think, about the Spartans.  It was common practice for the boys/young men to be apprenticed with older men/soldiers, and that apprenticeship would have involved a sexual relationship with their mentor(s).  Heterosexual marriages often were for breeding purposes only.

   If being caught means being 'caught in the act' then I bet that every time a dead strangled slave turned up, a dozen boys took credit for it through insinuation or something. Is bragging the same as getting caught?
   The implications are terrible. Not only do they commit a murder to become a man, but they probably don't consider it murder because they are killing someone's 'property'. In their minds, it would be like knocking off someone's guard dog, or one of their cattle.

   The ancients were jerks.

Actually, before Christianity - because Christianity was originally considered a sect of Judiasm.  The moral law was written BC. 

And, the origins of Islam can also be found in Judiasm, which you can see if you read through the Pentateuch.

The Spartans were also beaten for getting caught stealing food.  The beating was for getting caught!

The Spartans also slept in the snow.  It was cold and they were lonely!  Why sleep alone?  Do you think they melted the snow where they slept?

Oh don't forget about the need for food.  Yes the Spartans ate their enemies.  Of course their enemies were dead!
