When one is in ANY foreign country, they should remember that they are a GUEST and behave accordingly.

Doesn't matter if one is American visiting Thailand, or a Thai visiting the US. Don't piss in the house you're living in.

Cami, Have to basically agree with the others. Their rules seem strange to us. Though if you don't feel comfortable there, then you've probably made the right decision.

I've personally, been in countries which have the death penality for some types of smuggling. And one where they seem to allow anyone to own a hand gun.

And the number of places where they drive on the wrong side of the road!

There's also stories out there that I've read where trans girls were unhappy with their surgery and went back to the doctor and asked for things to be fixed.  One girl said after she did that the police started hounding her and she eventually fled the country fearing for her life.  Don't know how accurate the stories are...

For me it was simple, I would never drive across the state to see a doctor if there was a competent one just down the street.  And flying half way around the world, to a foreign country, made even less sense.  I mean, what do you do after you get home and there's a problem?  "Hi Doc!  It's me.  I need to make an appointment to see you.  I'm leaving now.  I'll be there in three days." 

I got a better option then not pissing off the host... I'll just not visit them.

Repressing the people will almost inevitably lead to revolution. You can only keep a society down for so long before people get sick of it. But if they are all happy there and happy with their government then that's excellent.

I hate paying 30% income tax but I'm not pissed off enough to start a riot... yet.

From observing my mom and aunt, I think most Thai ppl are taught to love the king. That's why it's a rule, it pisses everyone off >.> lolz. He doesn't even make the rules he just sits there. I don't approve, but really, I don't care about some foreign ->-bleeped-<-'s rights. I'm Thai, I've been to Thailand, it's really not as bad as you're making it sound like, you don't have to live there. If it bothers you so much then I guess you shouldn't go.

Revolutions are hard btw, no ones going to do it unless it's this inhumanely terrible thing.

Really don't see where you're getting the idea that Thai people valuing their monarchy equals repression. Since it, y'know, doesn't.

I will probably still visit the USA one day, even though you lunatics are still allowed to run around wearing sheets and burning crosses. 

Knowing me, If I were to visit some other country I would probably get into trouble without trying. I would probably be the one to cause offence just out of ignorance of the local customs.

Just don't go there and be an ->-bleeped-<-, lolz. Thai ppl are actually very laid back, especially with foreigners.
