Just depressed today. I do have a life, but my boyfriend won't allow me to do anything with it.

Okay, I don't know and don't care about the feelings that prompted this post. It made me hella happy. It's up there with the bacon thread and masturbating with butter. Thank you.  ;D

Well, let's see:

  • Nukes are expensive to manufacture and deploy
  • Nuking Antarctica would not melt the ice cap, it would just make an unimpressive medium-sized hole.
  • Nukes do not have a 100% yield, so there would be leftover plutonium all over the place
  • There would be some short-lived fission products floating around, though not terribly dangerous, would probably cause a lot of panic around the world.
  • The penguins would disapprove of the noise and bright light

Other than that, yes, we should totally nuke Antarctica.

First things first. Is it anywhere near Antarctica? The names are so close. Second, lets melt that baby with non nuclear means and sell the bottled water. We'll be billionaires! No need to worry about the oceans rising either, all the water will be on store shelves! Solutions to every problem, just another service I offer. Hugs, Tracey

Why don't we just get a load of earthmoving equipment and move the earth into the sun? That would melt those pesky caps in no time!

I tried doing this years ago, and it would've worked if it were not for those meddling kids. If a green van parks outside your lab and some hippies ask if they can spend the night, don't try to scare them away by dressing as a ghost pirate. As tempting as this may be, it will always fail.

Why nuke Antarctica when we have a perfectly good Indonesia right here?
  •

Keaira

No. Absolutely not. Besides, there's just too many variables. Biggest of which is to locate anarctica in the first place!

Tracey, there's one fundamental problem to your water bottling plan. Humans and animal pee. Which means that water goes somewhere. And in the cycle of life, all rivers lead to the ocean [so it is said]. we just down more slowly and in our own urine. :P

Mahsa, you need to take back your life and stop letting your boyfriend run it for you.

I've noticed your status go up and down like the US Terror alert level system. I don't want to see it go red please.

Rain Dog

Ah, but the bottles would be repurposed to store pee instead!

As for the nukes, this was a real idea, and Edward Teller was an advocate.

Masha...did you watch Dr. Strangelove before you started this thread?

Keaira, you're right, but Rain Dog had a great idea. We could call it Peecycling. The motto would be "Don't drink the yellow ones!" Hugs, Tracey

The ammassed bottles of stale pee could be dangerous, If they fell into the wrong hands, they could be used as a super weapon, Imagine the global threat of mass pee splash bombings, we`d  be safer to pour them out somewhere along the northern coast of anarctica, where it would re freeze, then we could sell tickets to see the gold coast by cruise ship,  but I am afraid the penguins might get pissed.
