So it's the arse-crack of dawn and I'm off to catch a plane to go and see a surgeon in another city for a consultation for chest surgery!

I'm kinda uber excited, but trying not to be because I don't want to be let down again like I have been so many times before. I guess I was just looking for a little emotional support here, since I'll aslo be going on my own and will be alone in an unfamiliar city. I hope I don't get lost trying to find my way to the hospital! :P

Will get back on later and let you guys know how it went. :)

Ugh, that was both good, and really terrible. The people were absolutely lovely, and I couldn't speak more highly of the staff, but there's no way I'll be able to afford it. T.T

The guy I went to see likes to do two operations for large chested people, and so the cost is double what I would pay for a single one, and his fee alone for the first surgery is $5900, so for both surgeries, flights and anaesthetist I'm probably looking at 15-20 grand. :(. I've been booked in for surgery on the 21st of February, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to cancel that and try a different surgeon, even though I like his results better. Over all today was expensive and saddening. :(

Well I'm glad that the surgeon and staff were great.  That really sucks about the price though.  Forgive my ignorance, but doesn't Australia have a public health care option?  Is it possible to get them to pay for top surgery, even partially?

Have you looked at other surgeons in the States or in Europe?  Keep your chin up, things will work out for you in the end.

Yikes, that's a lot.  Nothing wrong with checking out more options.  Something will work out. :)
Oh I'm a lucky man to count on both hands the ones I love

Hey Adio, yeah we have government health cover, but that will only get me back around $1200, so there's still a lot more after that. XZ I'm going to check out my options over the next few days, but I doubt I'll find a way to get the money in time. The really horrible thing now is that I do HAVE a date booker for surgery, and It's only two and a half months away! To have to cancel it stings like a mofo... T.T

I'm so sorry Bane.

I agree that's too much to pay, though. I'm hoping to keep my top surgery under 5k, but that's being pretty optimistic. And I don't see it being on any near horizons anyway. Really, you should be able to find something under 10k including travel. I hope it works out for you. Canceling something that happy is rough.

Sorry to hear about the price deal, Bane :(   I've heard a lot of guys on youtube talk about getting their surgery from Dr. Garramone in The United States. He's only $5900 inl anesthesia, hospital stay, etc. You'd have to pay for any lab tests done though, and a passport obv, but It'd prob turn out a lot cheaper than the quote you have from the other surgeon.  He seems to have god results. There is an album to see pics of what he's done on his site. I'll probably try for him if I can ever start my transition. Here's his site if you want to check him out:  http://www.drgarramone.com/transgenderflorida/

That really stinks that your appointment didn't work out. Having two surgeries pre-planned, not revisions, is something I haven't heard before. Hum.
I've got an appointment with Dr. Feins in New Hampshire (US) set up for Monday. I'm wicked nervous.
