Russian doctors perform sex change operation on toddler

A 2-year-old boy underwent a sex change operation in the southern Russian city of Rostov after doctors discovered that he had been born with a set of female chromosomes and reproductive organs, Life News reported on Tuesday

Oksana S, 29, from the Rostov Region, gave birth to the baby boy without any complications. However, several days later doctors confirmed the diagnosis of female pseudohermaphroditism.

The shocked parents, who had anticipated a boy, had already named their son Alexander.

When are they going to stop doing surgery on IS babies?

The ending of the article kills me.

They could very well have created a FTM with this surgery.

Let the children tell us what their sex should be in cases like this. Do not make the choice for the child.

And here I thought things were getting better... im still in shock while I go hide under the comfy rock in my bedroom.

Nonetheless, more and more doctors nowadays abandon this practice and advices the parents to wait until the child starts exhibiting gender specific behaviour itself and "reveal" which gender it is, and one day all doctors will do the same, and stories like the above will be an old memory of the row of medical horrors done throghout History.

Just from the reports and postings from the organization Intersex in Australia, its an effort to make the public and medical/scientific community aware/educated. Then to push for the changes needed to protect the rights of these children to determine their gender themselves in time.

This is why doctors need to stop operating on little intersex children. It isn't damaging them. Let them decide, if they even ever want to, when they're old enough. Children are not lab rats or property. They are human beings with their own personalities.

Poor kid.

Wowwww,  that is sick.  Let the child decide when they get older!

If I found out that I was originally born a male and they did that operation to me I couldn't live with myself.
