All peoples, all holidays welcome. One of my favourite traditions is a Christmas one. We used to gather around the table with a big bowl of popcorn and cranberries and make strings for the tree, which later got tossed with the tree for the birds to eat. And I love carolers. Hugs, Tracey

I like the tree to have all flasher light sets, then I wait for that elusive moment when the whole tree goes dark for a split second! Hugs, Tracey

They are not holidays as such but I like the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox, mainly because the WS heralds the return of the light in the northern hemisphere.  The SE says that sunny days with lots of light are coming very soon.   By contrast, I find the Summer Solstice depressing as from then on the days get shorter and winter is on its way again.

A note on the WS, the sun reaches it's lowest point on the 21st of December and stays there for three days.  On Christmas day the sun is reborn and starts its northward journey until it reaches it's highest point on the Summer Solstice.

P.S. It is widely believed that the earth was hit by something a couple of million years ago(not sure of the time exactly) and this collision knocked the earth slightly backwards and seasons were born.

My wife's family is so into Christmas it is almost embarrassing. My brother in law still dresses in a Santa suit to give presents out :embarrassed:. His wife and I are the none genetic family so we have to grin and bear it .

I particularly like New Years, 'cos it's my birthday

The winter solstice is also when the Toys for Tots stuff gets finalized and delivered, in my town at least. So that day is for a lot of people as materialistic and shallow as it is sacred. ;D

Got a lot of time on your hands eh?  You really need a hobby.

Lately I've been into doing the Apocalypse Project with some friends, and so long as it's not raining, I get up at dawn and go out and take photos of the town in the early morning with nobody out, nothing moving - like a post-Apocalypse deal.  I do that again this year (as long as it's not raining).  Other than that I'm going to Vegas right before, so my Xmas tradition this year is going to be working on my tan.

"You really need a hobby." I can watch a fire for hours, I'm quite easily amused! Hugs, Tracey

I can't live without my Xmas eve tamales, that's for sure.  Got my order in already.  You can't even find any if you start the day before.

Going to Black Friday to scope out the video games on sale

Watching "A Christmas Story" in December.  That would be the only time my mom would let me watch it and that has grown on me now.  I don't watch it any other time.
