This topic was brought up by Steph back in July. I'd like to ressurrect the idea. Is there a song that expresses the essence of Susan's that if Susan's had theme music would be Susan's theme song.

I would suggest Bridge Over Troubled Waters by Simon and Garfunkel. Here are the lyrics. The last two verses are especially poignant.

When you're weary
Feeling small
When tears are in your eyes
I will dry them all

I'm on your side

When times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

When you're down and out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you

I'll take your part
When darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

Sail on Silver Girl,
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way

See how they shine
If you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind

What do y'all think? Does anyone have other songs they'd like to suggest or is this the one.

Good Journey,

Cassie

They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-haaa!
Remember when you ran away
And I got on my knees
And begged you not to leave
Because I'd go berserk?
Well. . .

You left me anyhow
And then the days got worse and worse
And now you see I've gone
Completely out of my mind
And. . .

They're coming to take me away, HA HA
They're coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA
To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see
Those nice, young men
In their clean, white coats
And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!

You thought it was a joke
And so you laughed
You laughed when I had said
That losing you would make me flip my lid
Right. . .

You know you laughed, I heard you laugh
You laughed, you laughed and laughed
And then you left
But now you know I'm utterly mad!
And. . .

They're coming to take me away, HA HA
They're coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA
To the happy home
With trees and flowers and chirping birds
And basket weavers who sit and smile
And twiddle their thumbs and toes
And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!

I cooked your food
I cleaned your house
And this is how you pay me back
For all my kind, unselfish loving deeds?!!
Hah. . .

Well you just wait
They'll find you yet
And when they do they'll
Put you in the ASPCA, you mangy mutt!
And. . .

They're coming to take me away, HA HA
They're coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA
To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see
Those nice, young men
In their clean, white coats
And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!

To the happy home
With trees and flowers and chirping birds
And basket weavers who sit and smile
And twiddle their thumbs and toes
And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!

To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see
Those nice, young men
In their clean, white coats
And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!

Now that I've stopped laughing and picked myself up off the floor, I must say I should have seen that one coming.

I'm not sure of the artist...but there is a song somewhere out there called "I'm not a fscking drag queen!"

Oh Leigh,

Where would we be without your warped sense of humor. :D

From Susan's Wiki

"(Canadian transgender activist Star Maris wrote a song entitled I'm Not A Fscking Drag Queen to express her feelings on the subject.)"

That song is in the movie and soundtrack from "Better Than Chocolate"  It could be offensive to drag queens and crossdressers so it wouldn't be appropriate here.

Anyone taking offense to that song needs a new sense of humor :P

Always Look on the Bright Side of Life

Some things in life are bad,
They can really make you mad,
Other things just make you swear and curse,
When you're chewing life's gristle,
Don't grumble,
Give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best.
And...

:icon_drunk:  :icon_drunk:  :icon_drunk:  :icon_drunk:  :icon_drunk:
Always look on the bright side of life.
[whistle]
Always look on the light side of life.
[whistle]

If life seems jolly rotten,
There's something you've forgotten,
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps,
Don't be silly chumps.
Just purse your lips and whistle.
That's the thing.
And...

Always look on the bright side of life.
[whistle]
Always look on the right side of life,
[whistle]

For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word.
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin.
Give the audience a grin.
Enjoy it. It's your last chance, anyhow.
So,...

Always look on the bright side of death,
[whistle]
Just before you draw your terminal breath.
[whistle]

Life's a piece of s@$!,
When you look at it.
Life's a laugh and death's a joke it's true.
You'll see it's all a show.
Keep 'em laughing as you go.
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.
And...

:icon_walk:  :icon_walk:  :icon_walk:  :icon_walk:  :icon_walk:
Always look on the bright side of life.
Always look on the right side of life.
[whistle]

Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistle]
Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistle]
Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistle]
Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistle]
Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistle]
Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistle]
Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistle]
Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistle]

Repeat to fade...

If I remember correctly that song was sung to Brian while he was in the process of being crucified.

Now that's what I call a positive outlook.  :D

Shelley,

It is also a part of Spamalot, the new musical based on Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

p.s.: Of course, it was a priest who told me to go see Life of Brian because it was so funny.

Rent's Seasons of love I think says it best :)

Five Hundred Twenty-Five Thousand Six Hundred Minutes
Five Hundred Twenty-Five Thousand Moments SO Dear
Five Hundred Twenty-Five Thousand Six Hundred Minutes
How Do You Measure - Measure A Year?
In Daylights - In Sunsets
In Midnights - In Cups Of Coffee
In Inches - In Miles
In Laughter - In Strife
In - Five Hundred Twenty-Five Thousand Six Hundred Minutes
How Do You Measure A Year In The Life

How About Love?
How About Love?
How About Love?
Measure In Love

Seasons Of Love
Seasons Of Love

Five Hundred Twenty-Five Thousand Six Hundred Minutes
Five Hundred Twenty-Five Thousand Journeys To Plan
Five Hundred Twenty-Five Thousand Six Hundred Minutes
How Do You Measure The Life Of A Woman Or A Man?

In Truths That She Learned
Or In Times That He Cried
In Bridges He Burned
Or The Way That She Died

It's Time Now - To Sing Out
Tho' The Story Never Ends
Let's Celebrate
Remember A Year In The Life Of Friends

Remember The Love
Remember The Love
Remember The Love
Measure In Love

Measure, Measure Your Life In Love
Seasons Of Love...

I know this isn't exactly a classic, in fact, it's only one month old, but I personally relate to this really well... unless I'm beeing dumb...

Welcome To Wherever You Are - Bon Jovi:
QuoteMaybe we're all different, but we're still the same,
We all got the blood of Eden, running through our veins.
I know sometimes it's hard for you to see,
You're caught between just who you are,
And who you want to be.

If you feel alone and lost and need a friend,
Remember every new beginning, is some beginning's end.

Welcome to wherever you are,
This is your life; you made it this far,
Welcome, you got to believe,
That right here, right now,
You're exactly where you're supposed to be.
Welcome, to wherever you are.

When everybody's in, and you're left out.
And you feel you're drowning, in the shadow of a doubt.
Everyone's a miracle in their own way.
Just listen to yourself, not what other people say.

When it's seems you're lost, alone and feeling down,
Remember everybody's different; just take a look around.

Welcome to wherever you are,
This is your life; you made it this far,
Welcome, you got to believe,
Right here, right now,
You're exactly where you're supposed to be.

Be who you want to be.
Be who you are.
Everyone's a hero.
Everyone's a star.

When you want to give up, and your heart's about to break,
Remember that you're perfect; God makes no mistakes.

Welcome to wherever you are,
This is your life; you made it this far,
Welcome, you got to believe,
Right here, right now,
You're exactly where you're supposed to be.
And I say welcome...
I say welcome...
Welcome...

The first time I heard this, it did actually make me cry for quite a long time. In a good way.
This song also relates to that when I first came to a concious realisation of being tg, it made me doubt in God a lot. But I realised that God has a plan for everyone, and everyone has a purpose in life, even if life is hard, there is a reason.

I'd like to here Susan's song. MAybe I have I just don't recognise it in the written word. I wish we could trade wav files on that one. But it did make me think about this one from The Beatles.

Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love.
There's nothing you can do that can't be done.
Nothing you can sing that can't be sung.
Nothing you can say but you can learn how to play the game
It's easy.
There's nothing you can make that can't be made.
No one you can save that can't be saved.
Nothing you can do but you can learn how to be in time
It's easy.
All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love.
All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
There's nothing you can know that isn't known.
Nothing you can see that isn't shown.
Nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be.
It's easy.
All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
All you need is love (all together now)
All you need is love (everybody)
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.

This song reminds me of a song we used to have to sing at camp...

Quote

Keep on the sunny side, always on the sunny side,
Keep on the sunny side of life, YEE-HAW!
You will feel no pain as we drive you all insane, so
Keep on the sunny side of life!

Leader: Knock knock!
All: Who's there?
Leader: Ether!
All: Ether who?
Leader: The Ether Bunny! HA HA HA HA...

Keep on the sunny side, always on the sunny side,
Keep on the sunny side of life, YEE-HAW!
You will feel no pain as we drive you all insane, so
Keep on the sunny side of life!

Leader: Knock knock!
All: Who's there?
Leader: Nother!
All: Nother who?
Leader: Nother Ether Bunny! HA HA HA HA...

Keep on the sunny side, always on the sunny side,
Keep on the sunny side of life, YEE-HAW!
You will feel no pain as we drive you all insane, so
Keep on the sunny side of life!

Leader: Knock knock!
All: Who's there?
Leader: Stella!
All: Stella who?
Leader: Stella Nother Ether Bunny! HA HA HA HA...

Keep on the sunny side, always on the sunny side,
Keep on the sunny side of life, YEE-HAW!
You will feel no pain as we drive you all insane, so
Keep on the sunny side of life!

Leader: Knock knock!
All: Who's there?
Leader: Cargo!
All: Cargo who?
Leader: Cargo beep beep and run over all the Ether Bunnies! BOO HOO HOO...

Keep on the sunny side, always on the sunny side,
Keep on the sunny side of life, YEE-HAW!
You will feel no pain as we drive you all insane, so
Keep on the sunny side of life!

Leader: Knock knock!
All: Who's there?
Leader: Boo!
All: Boo who?
Leader: Don't cry, the Ether Bunny will be back next year! YAY!

Keep on the sunny side, always on the sunny side,
Keep on the sunny side of life, YEE-HAW!
You will feel no pain as we drive you all insane, so
