Ive been an open ftm transsexual for about...2 years now.
My friends know it, my teachers know it, and eveyrone accepts me for it.
Except...
My mother.

And that wouldn't have so much relevance of it, if it weren't for the fact that i know shell never understand nor accept me for it at all.
My father understands it- my aunt was a transsexual.
But I don't think he supports me at all.

What am I supposed to do, when the two most important figureheads in my life don't accept me..?

Ah, the issue of parents.

Coming to grips with being a transsexual was no big at all compared to coming to grips with their inability to accept me.

    You have to be who you are. Taht is the bottom line. I understand. I started to transition 20 years ago only to stop and not go through with it until  just a year ago, after my mother had been dead a few years. The power a mother has over their child is very strong, but don't sell yourself short, and don't waste time like I did.

My heart goes out to you. It must be very frustrating for you. We won't be able to take the place of your parents but I have found a source of love and support here at Susan's that I never thought possible.

Get to know the folks here and we may be able to help you come to terms with your relationship with your parents. We won't be able to fix it for you but we will do everything we can to help ease the pain it is causing you.
