Diamond Dust

Greetings and hello to everyone here. I'll go ahead and say I am terrible at introductions and I'm incredibly nervous about posting here, but I'll give it a shot!

I guess I'm just too afraid to open up to the people close to me in my life, since I know they would never be accepting and I just don't have it in me to put them through this kind of thing. Most all of them see things as pretty much Black or White. Anything else they'll most likely dismiss as immoral or such other. Even my mother has openly told me in casual conversations that she doesn't agree with anyone changing the body that god gave them. Even tattoos are unacceptable to her. So confiding in my loved ones is out of the question.

Oddly enough, despite being male... A lot of my family, even my own mother has commented on how feminine I look. Even more so in the recent year that I decided to let my hair grow out. (I'll post some pictures when I find the appropriate topic. :D ) But I digress. I'll save all the chit-chat for other topics. Just wanted to say Hello, and I hope to become part of the wonderful family that has developed on this site as I prepare for my transition in a few months.

Nice to meet you, Diamond. Coming out is tough, something that I'll be working up the nerve to do for the next month. I think my strategy will involve tactfully dropping hints where I can to make it a gradual change for them. Welcome aboard, I wish you luck in your own journey leading into transition. Stay strong.

Indeed.  Coming out is very tough and is very different for each of us.  I've been coming out for two years now and pretty much the only people who don't know are some of my coworkers.  Some people have surprised me with how accepting they are and some people have broken my heart.  Good luck and welcome!

I know, but unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to come out to the people I know with out being strung up to dry or disowned. So I've pretty much had to make the choice not to tell anyone I know. It's scary when you have no-one to hang onto for support but It looks like I'll find that support I need here.

You are so lucky to have even a few accepting people. I think I know maybe.. one person I can tell openly but I haven't done so yet as it's a bit scary to think about it. But I thank you for the warm welcome!

I actually took about an hour to choose a name. Trivial I know. I'm an avid game player, especially older 90's consoles. So I chose a name from one of my favorite old school games. Diamond Dust which is the name of a zone in Sonic 3D. I actually had to flip a coin to pick between that or Rusty Ruin.  ::) Nerd. I know. Thank you for such a warm welcome however, means a lot to me and makes this so much easier.
