I haven't been hunting but I do want to try it some day. My neighbour goes hunting and fishing all the time. I think I enjoy fishing much more but then again I haven't tried hunting so I can't say.

I used to go deer hunting with my grandfather a lot when I was younger. And fishing. I love fishing. I was never very fond of dressing the meat afterwards, but I remember my grandfather telling me that if I did the work I would be able to have the jerky. :D It is a shame though, because I live in a big moose (sometimes bear) hunting area but I just have not gone due to money and lack of time.

I don't have too much of an opinion on things like hunting. Everything my grandfather ever brought home was eaten by the family or given away to some of the families in the area that were hard up. He gives out deer roasts around the holidays to the neighbors every year. But I know a lot of places like Kentucky get overrun by the deer population. If they don't get taken by hunters they destroy the wheat and corn fields and people's private gardens. My grandmother had to replace her car windshield twice and a house window once over the course of the summer because the deer were all over the place. She lost almost her entire garden one year too. That same year there were too many deer and not enough food for them all. So yeah, I can see why it would be required in some cases. Besides, it's not like someone can shoot fifty deer just for giggles. There are carefully planned and rigidly enforced rules in place.

But if I get to eat the food afterwards, heck yes I would go hunting.

I used to go hunting a ton when I was younger.  Mostly for small game and pheasant.  Tasty eating.  If I wouldn't eat it, I wouldn't shoot it.

Yeah exactly. Like, I only tried duck once in my entire life at a restaurunt. Everyone else hated it but I remember loving it and want to try more. I would never hunt for fun, I'd never waste the animal after. I haven't tried deer only because it sorta bothers me a bit. I don't know why.

I am not a hunter, however I love target shooting and I used to love fishing (I still do but I just haven't gotten around to getting a license - and I also would toss any catch back, because fish is pretty polluted).

I don't have anything against the average hunter, who is going out to bring back wild meat to eat. The trophy hunters are another sort that I personally feel walks some moral lines. I take the view that if you're interested in the sport, there are plenty ways to do that without actually making a kill that's going to go to waste - except for a head on a wall.

And to the vegetarians and vegans, there's no getting around that animals are a food source and that humans have eaten them (have evolved to eat them even). I was a vegetarian for almost 2 decades but I got tired of the constant attitude of some other veggie/vegans as superior beings and they way they treat everyone else and look down upon them. Besides, I'm done putting self-imposed restrictions on myself (even though, even with my new choices, I'm still 99% veg). I'm still all about that factory farms are evil and even animals raised for food should be treated with respect and kindness. I even feel that hunters should respect their prey and be thankful for that the animal's life has been given so that they could eat.

I'm a vegetarian, very close to vegan, and I have been for 15 years. I don't actually know any other vegetarians, or any hunters, but I've known both. I was totally vegan for a couple years, but I abandoned that because I have other priorities, and I do value quality of life.

I have a lot less against hunting, even trophy hunting, than I do against eating fast food and half the other things most people around me do. Even some things that I do.

my dad always raised me that when you hunt you hunt for food if you are going to kill it you better well eat it. you do not waste it. also we had to understand that what ever we were hunting was a living creature and they have a brain, heart, lungs and feelings as well as we do. you must hunt with true understanding and care. so yes i think over everything every time im out hunting
