ABC has announced that in January they will premiere a new comedy show "Work It," featuring two men who dress as women to secure employment.

The premise of "Work It" reinforces false and damaging stereotypes about transgender people.

I saw the trailers for this new show and didn't find it particularly funny.

But on the other hand, the main characters are not making fun of trangendered people ... they are obviously pretenders.  And afterall, Tom Hanks got his start in a television show based on a similar theme some 30 years ago.  It was called "Bosom Buddies."

I think the market will decide whether this sort of comedy will work.  Bosom Buddies only lasted two seasons.
