So after lookin for 3 months i got me a job, pay is reasonable and its with the goverment so pretty secure once im past probationary (which will be NP, cos im so awesome)
I figure in about a year from now i could save about £20,000 which i could use as a deposit or put that towards FFS and laser.
Im thinkin atm its more sensible to get a place of my own, and take it from there.
What would you do?

I totally agree. Start saving, and then a year from now decide what you find to be best for you. That's something you have to decide when the time is right. :) And, a lot can happen in a year!
