Hi Joanne,
Wellcome to Susans.
I have travelled to Scottland and it is such a nice country. Ireland will remain my favourate in that part of the world because of the people and guininess (I spent 6 Months there).
I hope you enjoy your stay.

Hi well travelled Alice, you're sure you only staid for 6 months? Some of the Celtic creativity must have rubbed on you ,or some genetic atavism got re-awakened there. I really love the way you combined the words
genuineness and
Guinness and expended them into a brand new concept which describes so well your encounter with our "Pub Culture" and even its induced (self mocking?)
guidiness too.
Sláinte mhaith.

It is all so bloody poetic and Irish! You truely belong to the tradition of Swift, Wilde, Yeats, Behan, Joyce etc... (You can take that as it is meant: a trully heartfelt and appreciative compliment).

i used to summer every year in donegal...i loved it.. the feeling leaving northern ireland and crossing the border was like a transition in itself
I love Tir Connell and its treasures too, but believeb me: the Giant Causeway at sunrise, when the sun, glittering on the dried up salt cristals, creates millions of diamonds strewn atop the pink basaltic organ pipes, the magical sight of double and treble rainbows over waterfalls in the Glens of Antrim, the soft caress of the evening dew rolling down the slopes of the Mountains of Mourne, the delicate and intricate lacey webs adorning every path of the secret Islands of Lough Erne, a session of singsongs and storytellings around the acrid peat fire in a small pub nested under the walls of Derry, so many places in the rest of Ulster deserves recognition and appreciation for their unique and varied charms.
At least now, thanks to the peace process, more will be able to discover, experience, and cherish them.
