Lawrence Roach agreed to pay alimony to the woman he divorced, not the man she became after sex reassignment surgery, his lawyers argued Tuesday in an effort to end the payments. But the ex-wife's attorneys said the operation doesn't alter the agreement.

The lawyers and Circuit Judge Jack R. St. Arnold agreed the case delves into relatively unchartered legal territory. They found only a 2004 Ohio case that addressed whether or not a transgendered person could still collect alimony after a sex change.

It's unfortunate the court took the route of refusing to recognize his new gender to suggest that the alimony will be upheld. However, if they are going to do that, at least they're being consistent and using it as both sword and shield.

There's enough in the law of spousal support to justify its continuation without being obnoxious and refusing to recognize the change.

One thing is sure. Places like Focus On The Family in Col. Springs are watching this stuff.
They have people that do nothing but watch stuff relating to transgender issues. This kind of attention will not go without a response. I hope y'all are ready for their kind of scrutiny?
