Nathaniel

Hi there! I'm Nate, I'm 23 and live in Australia (seems like there are quite a few of us around this forum).

I've always been really uncomfortable about being female and have considered the possibility that I was trans for a few years, but it was something that I never really talked about to anybody. I recently opened up to a friend of mine and instead feeling good about having finally talked it, I was feeling more along the lines of "ahh, this is actually real, I don't think I can continue to be in denial'. In the few months since then, I have become far more comfortable with it all and feel pretty certain that transition is the right thing for me.

I'm not entirely sure where to go from here. I've told a few close friends who have mostly been really supportive. I'm planning on seeking out some gender therapy when I get home (I'm travelling at the moment). I want to start T and get top surgery as soon as possible, but I am not so sure of when I will be able to make that happen.

Hi Nathaniel,

Welcome to Susan's. You'll probably find it to be the warmest and most friendly family on the Web, bar none. Particularly if you are always up this late (04:26) or early as the case may be.

I'm really pleased you have been able to discover your real self, so early. Your thoughts of finding a therapist are the best thoughts you can have. It sounds like you have a close knit support network already. Keep it up; you'll need them.

If you don't live in Sydney, and are not sure where you can find your local Gender Centre, you can always ring the Sydney one and they can put you in contact with your local. Sydney number is 02 9569 2366.

Hope to hear more of you as time goes by, in the meantime, ask whatever questions you like. The amount of collective experience from those that have "walked the talk" is amazing.

Be safe, well and happy
Lotsa huggs
Catherine
