Anyone with a paypal account have trouble updating their new name? Did you have to send proof of name change to them? It's telling me I have to do this. With my ebay account I didn't have to. I just updated my new name and that was it.

Is it necessary to mail proof of name change to them? I don't understand why I can't just update my name like on ebay...?

When I still used paypal, it asked me to do the same thing.  I even emailed a real person and got the same answer.  This was more than a year ago though.  I ended up just closing the account and making another one with the correct name.

This.  It was easier in the long run.

I wasn't sure if I was able to open another account with a new name if I didn't have the proof sent over.  I don't know why I think that though... oh well. Thanks guys!

Yeah, this is the easiest thing to do. They don't monitor one account per IP or else family members wouldn't be able to have their own paypal accounts. They'll still need verification to get you unlimited though but I'm guessing your bank/cc info has the new name already so it shouldn't be a problem.

i came to that aswell...tried sending the proofs but they were saying the files were to big, :L so in the end i did what the others did by closing my account down and make a new one, much easyer and quicker that way.

Yeah, it is easier, but I didn't close my account yet. I opened up a new one, but wanted to wait to make sure everything is right and set up before I close down my other account in my old name.
