Hello, all!  My name is Danny and am currently trying to pursue therapy for HRT to begin transition, so MTF.  I've lurked these and other forums for a while but these seem to be the most popular so I figured it would be a good spot.  I won't bore you with my long tortured story of persecution for I'm sure we all have our own so instead I shall say a little bit about myself.

I am 22, and I'm 2 semesters away from my bachelors degree in graphic design.
I'm a ->-bleeped-<-or.
I'm more funny than serious, a tad bit awkward and pretty nerdy.  I think I'm smarter than I am, but have an ego that will never let me realize it.  I've been described by my therapist as "an intellectual who is robotic and needs to learn to feel".  So take that as you will.  However... I don't believe thats me at all, it's just i tend to clam up and become logical, and somewhat detached when uncomfortable :P

I like women, video games, pizza and am losing a battle in trying to quit drinking Dr. Pepper.  It just burns so good.

I live in TN, and enjoy making jokes in my head that make me laugh allowed sometimes while others just stare at me blankly.

Nice to meet ya.
I may side with the angels, but don't think for one second that I'm one of them.

Hi hi! So, should I call you Danny or Haven? I have family in Tennessee. I also have a touch of the logic problem when I interface in social situations, but I like to think I do a lot better than I used to. You'll be alright here. :)

Susan's is a good spot. Always active and supportive, and often pretty interesting.

Obligatory helpful links:

I don't really think it matters too much at this point.  I chose Haven on a whim, i don't think thats the name I'd choose for myself or anything.  For whatever the reason even though im completely on board this train certain aspects still seem odd, like choosing a name for example.  So whatever is fine.

Hi Haven

Welcome to the gang. Last time I guessed where a USA state was I was only out by the length of the USA, but Tennessee, that is in the South, right?

Oh I'm in Australia.

Haven is a beautiful name, imo, but that's pretty normal not to have anything picked out yet. I registered here under a name that I don't go by, just because I hadn't picked anything and no way in hell was I going to use my old name.

Most of the South does not consider Tennessee to be part of the South, but it is. It walks like a duck and all that.

Welcome aboard, and  hope you have a nice time here.
I have you all beat on "Southerness" though. From Tasmania, next stop is the ice.  :D

Hi Danny, it's nice to meet you! I live near Boston, I don't think there's any doubt that it's in the North! See you around the site, hugs, Devlyn

Thanks guys, Yeah I thought TN was different too, but the recently proposed anti transgender bathroom law my state is trying to pass has me thinking otherwise.  At the very least I lack a southern accent.  I'm not fond of it :P

Hello and welcome.

Which part of TN do you live in?  West, Middle, or East?

I live in upper-north East TN and was just curious if you were local to me.
Blessed Be!

Hi "whatever",

And you reckon you have an odd sense of humour.

Another  big Aussie welcome to Susan's.  I certainly hope you enjoy your stay, and it is fruitful for you. You have a very intelligent disposition of yourself, life and your journey, that is quite refreshing. I hope to hear more from you in the time to come.

I know what your therapist is on about. Wanting more "feeling." Mine's the same. "And how do you FEEL about that?" he always asks. Only to be greeted with a blank "A? What?" Must be something to do with their training.

Oh!! Karen? Is Tasmania still a part of Oz? Or is Mr. Brown still going ahead with his secessionist plans? LOL

In the meantime, be safe, well and happy.
Lotsa huggs

Welcome, welcome, from Canada: frozen wasteland extraordinaire!

Even if Haven isn't your real name, I will say that it's a pretty one. If one were daring enough to buck the trend of ordinary names, they would do well to claim that one.

I've seen your signature before... someone from an anime I know said it. I hope I don't associate you and him :O
  •

Korra

I'm avoid names for the time being as i decide how things will go.  Depending how things progress with family I may be dropping my last name so time will tell I suppose.  I'd rather be in a frozen wasteland than TN ><.

My signature is indeed from an anime.  If were thinking of the same character anyway.. :P

He does indeed dual-wield :P  Although I prefer women I could say he was hawt, and very cool.  :D

 I knewwwwwww iiiiiitttt. Yay.

I will say this though. As you get on HRT... you may actually find that you like men, and lose interest in women. It's not always the case, but I've had a friend or two whose orientations have changed. As has my own.
  •

Korra

Ahhh.  I kinda hope thats not the case. ><  I could live with it if I just became Bi..but to completely lose interest in woman would be...weird.  I can't even imagine thinking of it.  What was it like?

It's pretty gradual... you don't really notice it. It's starts out as an occasianal, "Oh, my..." and soon you get funny in the tummy whenever you see a hawt guy without a shirt. The attraction is surely different, though, at least for me. Instead of it being raw and physical like my attraction to women was before HRT, this attraction is a bit more complete, though I will say that their bodies are less of a focus than a sort of intangible attachment... like wanting to be held in his arms, to let him kiss me - and I him - and, well, whatever else follows.

You do turn bi for a bit, and as you explore your potential interest in men more and more - mostly out of curiosity, or subconcious desire - you eventually find you like men more than women.

I will say that I have weird preferences. I like andro or cute kinda guys. More typically masculine guys can work, for sure, but it really depends on my mood. There was a thread a little while back in the MtF forum about what guys we found attractive. Maybe you'd poke through. :D

Heck, sometimes I don't find anyone attractive. The thing I like the least about my newfound sexuality is that it's so... mood-dependant. I'm not used to it.

Don't feel like you have to be boxed into liking guys that look like these douchebags. (They're pretty 0/10 for me, personally.)

Perhaps you'd prefer a guy like this one.

The point? Feel free to be open. Male and female matter to a point, but remember that there are very masculine women, and very feminine men.

And... yeah. Hormones are fuuuuun ;D
