Just wondering.

People keep saying how brave I am to transition,  and at 6'3" I can't hide, so I decided to be out and proud.   

I'm torn.

I feel I've become a much better person since realising. A kind of person I couldn't have been if I was not TG.
But on the other hand I kind of just want to get on with my life. I wish things didn't have to be this way.

But I'm not going to sit around and be bitter about the way things are. I feel very sorry for those who do.

No, I'm not particularly proud of being transgendered..

I am kinda proud of myself for finally doing something about it though..

I have yet to feel proud of my trans* status but am slowly coming around to accept it. For instance, I used to avoid calling myself a "transman" because I felt it was a separator, but now I am learning to embrace it.

My issues that come along with being trans* are not fun, yes, but I have discovered a lot about myself, others, and the world. I probably would have remained oblivious to these things if I did not at least accept being trans*.

Pride will come in time for me, I'm sure.

No, but I hope to be eventually. I just find it so difficult, sometimes I think i'm there but then othertimes i'll be embarrassed of being trans.

I didn't actually vote because I'd feel like a dick voting yes, but I try to be proud of whatever I am. If it's something innate (i.e. gender, skin color, birthplace) then I'm pretty careful with my pride, and if it's some trait that's a choice or a result of my choices, then I keep in mind that things may change.

So yeah, with quite a few reservations and caveats, I am proud of being transgender. I'm also proud of having all my teeth, and proud that I can curl my tongue and cross my eyes.

Huh, I'm not proud of it at all. I can't even describe how much I hate it. But that's just me. I made this poll cause I'm curious about how others with this condition view it.

I can't fathom being proud of this (what I consider a curse), but I understand that everyone's feelings on the subject are just that... their own.

Proud?  That's like asking if your proud to have diabetes or any other medical condition.

No, I'm not proud, I'm not ashamed either, it just is.

I'm not proud of it because to me that's like asking would I rather be trans or a biomale (ahem.....biomale).  I'm just trying to accept it and do what I can to help ease it some.

I chose Other because while I'm not proud per se, I'm not ashamed of being trans either.

It is what it is. When I first started transition I remember feeling like it was a gift, now I see it as something that's just like anything else in my life, my brown eyes, my education, my hopes and dreams. It's not any more significant than anything else.

Although I would perhaps rather call me 'Gendervarianted', I am very proud of it, and also thankful- Nowadays, as it have enriched my life, my Intellect and my Conception of things, and tought me things in ways that had not been possible if I had not been the way I now am.

I'm only proud to handle it well so far, and not to walk about accepting some folks opinion to be a nut or a freak.

This basically.  I'm not proud of having a medical condition.  What I am proud about is that I took the steps to help myself be comfortable and happy with myself.

I'm not proud of feeling something I have little control over and feeling like I'm trapped in the wrong body so I have to pay for surgeries and take hormones to correct it, no. Honestly, if I never had to go through something like this, I would have been so much happier. I'm only transitioning so I can be seen for who I truly am and finally be comfortable with myself.
     I honestly can only imagine someone being trans if they fall outside of gender spectrum of being strictly female or male. For instance, I know a lot of queer transguys who consider themselves proud of what they had to go through.

im a pretty out and proud kind of person but it depends on my mood,
somethimes im like "arg.. being trans is the worst ** every" and other times I feel its okay to be special.

I must say, I dont feel nessesarry so proud of being transgender myself, but Many people have been complimenting me for being open about it, and doing things who could change the rights and made it better for transgender people. I know not everyone can do those cause not everyone  can or want to be open about it. I totally understand that.

so to say it in another way, being trans itself isnt so much to be proud of, but to fight the challenge is alittle pridefull to me.

  Definitely not.  I am not proud of being transgender, nor do I take pride in the good works that I have done.  There is no room for pride in these times and with my like minded friends and family.

I'm not proud of it, really.  I am proud of myself for having the courage and determination to act upon it.  Overall, however, I feel it's an inconvenience.

I am proud of being trans. While I agree with what another poster said about it being sometimes dangerous to be proud of innate traits or traits generally out of your control, I think when it comes to traits that cause some kind of marginalisation pride is important for political reasons. For me I'm not just proud to be trans for the ->-bleeped-<-s n' giggles. For me it's a matter of showing society that being trans isn't a "birth defect" (at least for many of us, though I know some trans people see it that way), it's not something to be pitied for or hated for. That it's just like being cis and that we're equally deserving of dignity and respect, and a unifying term to make visible a lot of the oppression that still goes on.
