I read about this and came to the same conclusions.
It's very sad for those affected, but seeking to force them to change wouldn't work.
In the country where I spend my late teenage years, gay was illegal until the early 80s, though rarely prosecuted. I found myself frequently being attacked or simply accused. I was never out, just so obviously an effimate gay.
That was Scotland.
It's better now. Though without obvious outside interference.
Side note. I've recently started using a new browser, because M$ is just so bad these days. It's Chrome. Very nice it is too. It has a built in spell checker, which sometimes picks the wrong words. For someone who doesn't recognise words particularly well, anyway, noticing spelling is hit and miss. But sometimes it can get it terribly wring. This time, for example, it flagged up effiminate and suggested efficiently.
Not quite what I was getting at really.
