Hey guys, had my second therapy session yesterday and she made it kinda seem that it would be forever until I ever get on T. So I was wondering, how many therapy sessions did it take for you before you got prescribed to t or referred to an endo? I'm sure the timeline is different for everyone. I've came across guidelines on here to what therapists (or psychologists?) go by, but I forgot and can't seem to find it anymore. Thanks in advanced.

I saw him once every week or two for about three months.
In my case I went to my endo before seeing the psychiatrist, so I got my injection as soon as I had the go-ahead.

The 'right' answer to this question differs from one country to another. They interpret the SoC as they feel is right.

In Germany it would be 3 years therapy confirming full-time-RLE, in SA 1 year therapy and HRT ONLY after 1 year RLE, in some places 6 month to 9 months includes some US States.

It really depends on your therapist.  I saw my therapist once and she wrote me a letter.  Have you actually told her point blank that you are ready for T?  That might help speed things up and you will know when she may give you a letter.

With my doctor, it took four months, and I was going once every other week, so eight sessions?
But apparently, she could tell that I was desperate for T and made the time shorter for me,
Because usually she goes by six months, or twelve sessions.
The Standards of Care specific six months, twice a month, but I'm sure therapists differ like mine did.

Thanks for all the responses and yeah Andy I have straight out told her that I'm ready for t and she's acknowledged it and has said herself that she 100% believes that it's what I want. However, she did bring up some issues that I need to work on about myself on a personal level, which I agree with. So i guess that may be what's holding it up a bit.

1 but I don't think it was to gate keep me from starting T I think it was just to make sure I wasn't on the brink of suicide.

it really depends you could ask your therapist. i am younger so im going on blockers first and my doc said it will take a month or two to get on blockers then at least 3 months to start T if we decide thats what everyone wants to do (referring to me and my parents) but he has been seing me for a long time for other trans related things.
