It really is a human rights violation. Belgium has the same thing. The care is excellent, everything from consultations to hormones to surgeries are covered (even breast augmentation I learned recently).
But... the name change is taking 10 months. And gender change on documents is only possible post-srs. And being on the 1,5 year waiting list for srs is not enough. The whole legal aspect is just medieval.

the rule dosent make sense, its just unlogical.

is it also illegal to keep sperm or eggs in Belgium?.

I find it selfish of the Swedish activists to launch this as a special issue, when fact is at least sixteen countries suffer similar legislations.
They should have launched a world wide campaign instead.

No, I stored sperm before HRT. Perfectly legal. it was suggested and encouraged by the gender team.
Which indeed makes the whole lgislation even dumber.

Well our country is not what it used to be.

And this old rule is just stupid! But I think that they might change it now, many people are angry.

So, basicly the "moral family friendly" politions who object to the idea of trans woman having children the natural way.

Aren't bothered about it being done artificialy? That really makes no sense at all whatever you're opinion. O_o

I also believe that we should work globally and that nobody is free before everybody is free, but regarding this campaign being only about Sweden does make sense because we need specific pressure on the government right now since they still can change their minds if they just understand how shameful it is for them to have this kind of legislation. There is a confusion right now of how it will end. If they are taking it away or not? It´s only the christian democrats who actually don´t want to take away this absurd law and they are a tiny part of the conservative coalition but they have the social minister post. We have been waiting long for them to change the laws which are very old and moldy.

it would be nice for the rules tho change in every country, but wonder how realistic it would be,
at least I would be glad for it to change in 1 country rather than noone, its at least a start.

I do not understand this. If you transition you become sterile anyway. Can someone explain what this is about?

Beverley
I know you can be sterilized anyway, thats why this law makes totally no sense at all.
it dosent matter if you lived as a man/women, had bottom or top surgery all it care about is if your can have children or not and even if your never have the desire to have children or its just very VERY unlikely cause of homones, or other fact, then you still need to be sterilised.
