Hi Claire, welcome to Susan's. :) I can't say I know the first thing about conditions in Missouri, but I wish you the best. You can always come here and talk to people, and you can find all sorts of stories.

Welcome, Claire - and about counselling others, if you don't mind me saying this, transition is a time of huge changes, both the obvious and the subtle, so make sure you're looking after yourself through this before focusing too much on looking after others (she speaks from humiliating experience) :).

Hi Claire,
A big Aussie welcome to Susan's. Your aspirations of becoming a counsellor are quite admiral. I'm sure you'll love the family atmosphere here. Just a suggestion prior to your coming out to everyone. It's handy to know who you really are and can explain that to others in a way they can understand. If that's at all possible. Your counselling course will take you through that, so it should be a great benefit to you.

Hope to hear more about you in the coming months. In the meantime, be safe, well and happy
Lotsa huggs
Catherine
