unicorn

i found this poem in my notebooks... i wrote the original in 1996/7, maybe now i understand what i was trying to write then. still don't know if this poem says it very well. you tell me...

pink balloons gather round
the church scent of
flowers saying
welcome

welcome - surprised i
join the service it
fuses the poles
east and west
of my heart

i feel them
cramping
(but i like the warmth in here)

my breasts
protruding dilemma
tangled up in
concrete silk

the eyes around me
glued (recognizing?
laughing?) onto my
split    identity

as i tear away
a bit of skin
sticks to the wooden chair
but now

i want my time

to take my
bulging I-s

out
