I have seen The Descendents, Extremely Loud, The Help, and Warhorse.

Of those four, I enjoyed The Help the most.

Who has seen some of the others?

Artist or Hugo for me - Tree of Life and War Horse could be used to solve chronic insomnia.

I've read The Help and Moneyball, but I'll see them next year when they hit Netflix

I have to see The Artist now.

It wasn't a particularly great year for movies.  Box office receipts being at an all time low seem to show that the public agreed.  I think that any of last years movies were better than any of this years movies.  And as a whole body there really is no comparison at all. 

2010----The King's Speech / Black Swan / The Fighter / Inception / The Kids Are All Right / 127 Hours / The Social Network / Toy Story 3 / True Grit / Winter's Bone

2011-----The Artist / The Descendants / Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close / The Help / Hugo / Midnight in Paris / Moneyball / The Tree of Life/ War Horse

None of those were the 'overcoming adversity' kind of movies that Hollywood loves to the degree that King's Speech was.  None of them were the edgy artsy thing that Black Swan was.  None of them were the kind of 'you can only do that in movies' that Inception was.  Kids are All Right is better at the 'family' story then Decendants or ELIC.  And I think that both True Grit and Toy Story 3 become huge movies as the years go on, because they get better with repeated viewings.
