Transphobia in the Gay and Lesbian Communities
The Gazette

Every once in a while, I hear about transphobia in the gay and lesbian communities. One American trans female friend, who identifies as a lesbian and who is also a lesbian activist, told me about how she was rejected by some in the lesbian community in her city, in a public forum by a natal lesbian woman, who said something along these lines in reference to my friend: "She's not a real woman. She shouldn't be representing us!" The media picked up on it, and it will be recorded forever on the Internet . . .

I haven't run into any myself, but have met with a little 'trans-suspicion" or "trans-don't-know-how-to approach-you".  I just be me, and let people get to know me.

Sad Girl

In my country they were so stupid and always thought mtf trans/TV's are straight guys who disguises just to be able to peep females in toilets.

Maybe the bio lesbians think mtf lesbians are just straight guys by the end if they still love bio females and think that all mtf trans should be stereotyped as straight.

There has always been a rivalry in my community where Gays and Trans feel like 2 different worlds even we're from the same LGBT group. Trans think Gays are just 'untransitioned-trans', coward to transition and hypocrites while Gays think trans are denigrating the community by being 'too much' and they wished we trans remained and lived as a man so that the community be more respected. All this is bull->-bleeped-<-. At times even among TRANS there are rivalries. The Pre-Ops & Post-Ops criticizes the Non-Ops and call them f**** just cos they don't wanna operate penis. All this is strange.

A friend of mine who is a transman tried to get into a gay mens club here in Iceland but the bouncer refused to let him in because he "was a lesbian". My friend explained to the bouncer that he's a transman and is in the middle of transition. Then the bouncer proceeded to insult my friend and saying that he will never be a real man and hormones will do nothing for him. My friend just walked away, devastated after being told that he will always look like a woman.
It's so sad to hear about incidents like this in the LGBT community.

Meh, I haven't found GBL to be any different than straight in how they deal with trans stuff. Its why I don't mess with the local pflag anymore, got too uncomfortable.
