I was wondering if anyone could help me with info about Aussie chest surgery - namely the pre-op requirements from any surgeon(s) you may know of?  I can find reviews of surgeons, but little to know info as to what they require of you (time on T, RLE, letters from psychs).  Thanks for any insight!  By the way, I already have the Health Providers list from FTM Australia, but it doesn't give the info I'm looking for.

I dont know if you have already heard about her but Dr Megan Hassall has some good results, and I really like the look of the method she uses. It seems that the scars you get come out from the side of the nipple instead of under.. it doesnt look like you just had breasts removed! ;D And she is in Sydney!

I dont know if she actually has a website but this guy has written some stuff about her.

He says that you will need a referral from a psychiatrist in order to undergo surgery with her. She does not require you to be on testosterone, and she believes it is not her job to asses your psychological preparedness or appropriateness for this type of surgery. So that probably means she wont be worried about RLE either.

You should go on youtube and look at some of the results and experiences of what other guys have had with her! I think it is about $6000 for the surgery too. But it looks worth it (and I really like the scars! :P)

Thanks, harlee!  I actually had thought about her as I hear so many good reviews of her work.  I've seen a few pics, but I'll check out some more as the ones I looked at were a bit old.  Just out of curiosity, how far are you from getting top surgery?  I hope to aim for next year.  Thanks again, mate :)

I only just turned 17 this year but my goal is to get surgery when I am 19! Hopefully I will have enough money by then :P Good luck with finding a surgon that you like, and good luck with getting it all done next year!

Hey Kreuz,  15 years ago when I had mine is SA, I neeeded a  ref from my phsyc (Dr Rob Lyons).  I think there are other phsyc but I don't know them.  I also needed to have Medi-bank full Blue Ribbon Hospital cover for 12 months prior.  Not sure if it still exsists or other equivilants.  With the Hospital cover, the cost was $1000 out of pocket for the surgery.  I can't remember the name of my surgoen but I could probably find out.  He was here in Adelaide.

Sorry I have no recent relevent info for you.

Hey, thanks, Rock!  If you could find out the surgeon's name for me I'd be grateful.  I plan on seeing Dr. Peter Gauvin, the other gender psych in Adelaide as I've been told to avoid Lyons.  I think the Medibank cover for plastic/reconstructive surgery is called Top Hospital now - we looked at it and it's reasonable.  We have savings, so may just go out-of-pocket for it, though.  I probably will go interstate for the surgery just because I want to avoid the monopoly the SA Gender Dysphoria Unit has in South Australia.

No worries Kreuz.

Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon

He was awesome in that he never made me feel uncomfortable and always treated me with dignity.  I'm fairly happy with my results.  My moobs were big and droopy due to having once been milk machines so I have a bit of puckering.  Also, I didn't massage as much as I should have so there's a bit of adhesion (the tissue underside of the skin adheres to the tissue on the rib cage??).  I think both of these can be fixed if I choose to.

I might look into Dr Gauvin.  Could do with some alternatives but don't know too much.  I've been out of the loop for the last 9 years and wasn't every really in it anyway except for neccessities.  I have to say popping my head back out from under my rock has shown me there is a whole new light on things compared to 20 years ago and I like it.
