HOUSTON (AP) — A Houston judge has sentenced the transgender widow of a fallen firefighter to almost two months in jail after she pleaded guilty to theft involving a wristwatch.

Nikki Araguz was sentenced to 50 days in jail Wednesday after she confessed to stealing the Rolex off the wrist of a woman she met at a Houston bar Feb. 24. Her attorney says Araguz has already paid $2,800 in restitution for the watch.

Such a sad downfall of someone in whom so much goodwill was invested.

From the reports, such a silly crime.

Just very sad really.

omg

Why would she do that?

I don't understand people sometimes. She had a rather large number of people looking at her (pros and cons) over the Will Settlements and then she had to go and swipe a Rolex. Really?

This isn't the first time she resorted to this behavior tho. She's been arrested seven times before....all but one had been for theft. The other was driving with a suspended license.

Things happen and she's been under the "gun" the past 2hour years. She'll do her time and hopefully get things together again. It doesn't help to piss off the Judge either by being late twice!

this is her eighth time being caught committing criminal theft and i think her sixth time being in jail for it.

To be arrested that many times tells me she has done it much more and had not gotten caught. I wish the best for her too but I doubt she'll change. She's a habitual offender and it's hard to break away from stealing things that aren't yours when you are used to it.

It certainly will damage her appeal process concerning her husband's will. The Prosecuting team will have a hay day with this.
