Ok  so i havent started any Laser Hari removal yet and am a bit worried about one aspect of it. I have been full time for nearly 2 years now and i am practically OCD about my facial hair, i shave once a day and pluck usually twice a day. Is it true i will have to grow the hair out for 5 days or more before Laser will be effective?

I think i know the answer so heres a follow up question: Is there anyone here that faced this problem, being fulltime and having to grow their facial hair out? If so how did you deal with it?

You can shave every day before the procedure, because they shave you right before they do it (or at least they should), because the hairs need to be short.

As far as plucking goes, you need to stop that 3 weeks before the actual session, as far as I know.

You HAVE to shave as close as possible for Laser to work. Anyone who told you that you had to grow it out has never had laser. If you grew your hair out for 5 days to have laser you will experience the worse, unimaginable pain of your life as the laser burns all that grown out hair. But you do have to stop plucking

Electrolysis requires you to grow the hairs out. Not laser.

No I was instructed to not let it grow out before treatment.

But one thing is not so fun and that is the after effects when the hair dies=pimples and really dark hair that is a pain to shave off.

It is really fun when the hair starts to fall off however :D. I have done 3 sessions so far and my beardshadow is almost completely gone now.

You will love it ;)

My clinician wanted me to shave before the appointments, this allowed the root of the hair to be targeted with the full force of the laser.  I believe for electrolysis you do need to let the hair grow out a bit.

Also , after treatment, you won't be able to wet shave for a few days and the laser will not get transparent or fair hair, so be prepared for patchy facial hair.  It takes a couple of weeks for all the hair roots to grow out.

Oh, and a bag of frozen peas applied to the face afterwards works wonders to cool the face after treatment.
Good luck

Ok so Quick advise if your still reading.  I've done 3 seasons, full face and chest.  You Want to use a little something called Dr. Numb

Trust me I don't like get paid to say this,  if you put it on 1 hour prior it's.  Well lets put it this way, I went from "near tears" to "ouch"

I have really dark think hair.  Use like a bunch.  leave it on 1 hour,  you can put it on over makeup

30g is enough for 3-5 uses.

Annah is 100% correct. You'll want to shave your face as close as possible the day of your laser treatment. Now with electro, you'll need to grow out your facial hair at least for a few (3-5) days before treatment, so that the tech can grasp the hair after zapping it.
