Okay folks you want a way to give something back to the community? Get involved from the safety of your home.

An eleven year old Transgender German Girl Faces Being Institutionalized By her Father Who Rejects Her female Gender Expression.

"The girl, identified by various media outlets only as "Alex," reportedly lives with her mother, who is supportive of her daughter, in Berlin. However, Alex's father, who is divorced from her mother, reportedly "rejects this view of his daughter's gender identity and wants to force her to grow up as a boy."

"Meanwhile, Alex's father has reportedly insisted on calling his daughter "Alexander" and forcing her to wear boy's clothing. He is now believed to have gained the support of Berlin's Youth Welfare Office and is in the process of removing Alex from her mother's home."

There is a petition at the Huffington Post that you can sign to show your support of this young girl. She is one of us and needs the support.

SIGNED ! But cannot get back, reprint my posted reason WHY !

Quotein short: i am a "trans-parent" of 2, consider myself one of the best possible, and this strict DISCRIMINATION re-enforcing "traditional male stereotypes" must STOP !

Shame on you "dad" ! Go get a LIFE !
"But it's no use now," thought poor Alice, "to pretend be two people!
"Why, there's hardly enough of me left to make one respectable person!"

Here is an update from Pink News UK:

News that an 11 year old trans girl in Berlin, Germany, is about to be committed to a mental institution by local authorities – following intervention by her absent father – has prompted grave concern by the International LGBTQ Youth and Student Organisation (IGLYO).

A petition has also been started on http://www.change.org/petitions/mayor-of-berlin-stop-the-institutionalization-of-a-11-year-old-transexual.

Have you signed the petition???

This might have had happened to me if I did come out at 6 in 1959.  I would have been institutionalized before age 11 if I insisted.  They did that back then for things less.

You know not very long ago everyone was praising Germany for how it treated Kim Petras who got SRS at 16.  So, there may be more here than the stories are telling.  Then again, few things are as bitter as divorce.

Tekla has a point here.  There may be another reason or it could be just the politics as usual in that region of Germany.

Have to agree. And knowing the sort of place Germany is, generally, it does seem rather strange.

Transgender rights activists have taken up the cause of an 11-year-old transsexual child who wants hormone treatment to grow up as a girl but faces being sent to a psychiatric institution by Berlin authorities.

The child, identified as "Alex," has male genitalia but considers herself a girl. She lives with her mother, who supports her wishes. But her father strongly disputes this gender identity and has lobbied the Berlin youth welfare office to have the child taken from its mother's care and put into a psychiatric institution. The two parents separated and divorced over the issue.

Daily newspaper Die Tageszeitung reported last month that a local district court upheld the youth office's request, but that the mother is appealing to the higher regional court. A spokesman for the higher court told The Local that because of the private nature of the case, this could not be discussed.

There is a petition at the Huffington Post that you can sign to show your support of this young girl. She is one of us and needs the support.

I feel for this kid, I went through something similar.
Except it was somebody screaming in my face.
You can't tell me, or her who we are... that's not right, not even in a fundamentalist christian way is this right.
It's called Free Will, and we've got it.

The information we have on this so far amounts to this.

German parents, divorce over their 11 year old's insistence to be female. Mother claims father is only against because he has history of transgender in his own family. Father claims he is opposed because child is mentally ill, pressured by mother. Clinic prepared to offer 'reparative' therapy. Father petitions local child welfare who take his side. Mother goes to court.

I hope that is all. From what I can see, that is all we know so far.

1. I find it impossible to accept that any W European, or indeed any EU state, would subject a child to reparative therapy.

2. I find it almost impossible to believe that any W European or indeed any EU state would use a mental hospital for any sort of containment, if the child is simply at risk.

3. The claims come, seemingly from Pink News, Huffington Post and The Local, German News in English. The reference in The Local, German News in English to an article in Die Tageszeitung doesn't seem to exist. I have used the search terms: Transgender, Transsexuelle and Geschlechtsumwandlung. Now this isn't conclusive, because I may have entered these wrongly.

There is this: http://www.taz.de/Film-ueber-einen-intersexuellen-Teenager/!19257/  It is a review of a film about someone called Alex who is XXY.

I'm sorry, but there are simply too many questions here. To many points that simply don't make sense in a European way. To be honest, if this were happening in the US, for example, I might believe it.

We need some sort of creadable verification. Die Tageszeitung in itself, might be enough, provided their report is comprehensive. But it too, is not exactly, of the higher end of reporting.

The whole image is too much like, some cold, German, looking over his round glasses and announcing, 'Ve haf the vays. U vill become a normal citizen and serve the fuhrer. Mein Got!

Not going to happen and if the truth be known, never did. (Though we're not suppose to say that yet).

I was one of the last generation young people in Europe to have reparative therapy imposed. In 1972. That amounted to putting me and perhaps one other, similar boy, in a house, supervised by a very disinterested member of staff. I had a room of my own. there were 10 girls, spread between 3 rooms. All I or any other boy there, had to do was chat them up.

Those days are gone now.

If this is indeed happening, I need more evidence that the, frankly, hysterical nonsense put out so far.

It matters, because simply putting our names to any and every cause that appears on the likes of Change.org, diminishes our personal credibility.

It is always better to be safe than hear some kid killed themselves because of a stupid decision by the state, or parent.

The German Youth Welfare Office in Berlin has obtained a court order, allowing them to hospitalize Alex at any time.
Source: http://www.gaystarnews.com/article/trans-child-mental-institution-threat

Google translation: Anna Kaminski, totally appalled by this decision, went to the next instance, the case is now at the Supreme Court. But the youth welfare office, the briefing will now. By injunction. Every day, they can now stand before the door. And bring a cheerful, open-minded girl without a single opinion in psychiatry.

Folks, German Youth Welfare Office has the legal power to hospitalize Alex at any time and start "Reparative Therapy". And as we all know, some of us all too personally, is nothing short of brain washing and leaves a person broken and empty.

Please sign the Petition. Currently we are short of the goal of 10,000 signatures. There are 8,726.

OK Finally found it. http://www.taz.de/Transsexualitaet-im-Kindesalter/!85899/  It's in German so anyone else will need a translator.

Signed.

Well I can read it and it seems just one long explanation from one source. It sounds a bit like "Bild Zeitung"*) to me.
*) Germany's major tabloid - a bit tike SUN in the UK.

One thing caught my eye the 'ever knowing' soundig expert opinion.... "there can be parent induced gender dysphoria" hum.

I have a feeling that is at the bottom of it all, it's what the father tries to use - and the authorities are not really sure, and the girl tells how stupidly they tried to test her.
She sounds more grown up then some of those shrinks making her choose between toys like blue cars on the one side and pink dolls on the other. She then chose to do a puzzle... good girl! I say :-) etc. etc. etc.
It says also that she was never properly diagnosed... now if the diagnosis is based on such simplistic stuff... oh my.
Well, it seems a mess because the father is battling it out with his ex-wife... and the poor girl is caught in the middle. Quite awful.

Axélle
PS: I have my doubts that Google translate will produce a lot of sense... it is not THAT smart as I recall from some other attempts...
