Students at a Montgomery County high school have received materials from an "ex-gay" organization that promotes the widely discredited theory that sexual orientation is changeable, according to a local D.C. Fox television affiliate.

Fox 5 TV reported students at Einstein High School in Rockville, Md., received the materials along with their report cards during homeroom last week.

The flier publicizes the work of the "ex-gay" organization, known as PFOX (Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays), which claims it "promotes diversity for the ex-gay community." According to their mission statement, the organization asserts "ex-gays demonstrate that those with unwanted same-sex attraction can seek help and information," in order to "transition out of a homosexual identity."

By Nick Visser

Parents in a Maryland school district are outraged after several students were sent home with an antigay flier bearing the message that no one is "born gay" and that people can choose their sexual orientation.

The flier reads:

"According to mainstream psychological associations, there are no replicated scientific studies to support that a person can be born 'gay.' No 'gay gene' or gay center of the brain has been found. No medical test exists to determine if a person is homosexual. Sexual orientation is based on feelings and is a matter of self-affirmation and public declaration."

ROCKVILLE, Md. - A flyer sent home with some high school students in Montgomery County, Md., is causing consternation among parents.

The flyer is from a group called PFOX, Parents And Friends Of Ex-Gays And Gays. In the one-page message, the group tells teenagers that no one is "born gay", and people can choose their sexual orientation.

Karen Yount-Merrell, a licensed, clinical social worker, got one of the flyers when her son came home with his report card from Einstein High School.

It's kinda disturbing that these were sent with report cards.

Do US schools normally send propaganda with report cards?

Unless you have kids in school, you wouldn't believe the stuff that is sent home!  Years ago we used to get deluged with all of the phony global warming drivel.
