How is it that your face changes with T?

Let me make myself more clear lol
I know your jaw sort of looks different and people, well the shape of their face changes. I get that.
I'm just curious about what the hell it is that T actually changes??? Like the muscles or what lol I know this is probably stupid but I was thinking about it. What does it LITERALLY do?
Because I know if you stop taking T your face can start to get feminine again (Correct me if I'm wrong please!)

My guess would be a change in subcutaneous fat deposits and musculature.  I would also speculate that fluid retention and weight gain would be a factor in the prevalence of that "chubby face" that a lot of FTMs remark upon in the early stages of HRT.

Most guys lose some fat deposits, so bones tend to become more prominent. Also, losing some fat can make the facial muscles more prominent. The skin gets a bit coarser and can give an FTM face a slightly more rugged look. I've read that cartilage can thicken, but I don't know it that's true or (if it's true) how much. But that might slightly alter a nose, make it a little more masculine-looking. Anyone here know more about cartilage?

One of my most noticeable changes (apart from facial hair) is actually complexion. I'm ruddier than I used to be--I look much more like my father. The other change, of course, is hairline. That makes a big difference in my face.

I didn't get any chubbiness in the face when I started HRT, but I have some friends who went through that phase and now have more angular faces.

The fat distribution changes to a male pattern. If your growth plates are closed it will not change the underlying bone structure though.

My ears also got way bigger so I think cartilage does thicken. Pre-T, even as a girl, I was teased about having small ears, but now they're in the normal male range.

Experiencing the chubby face right now...:(

I'd definitely say the actual look of your skin makes a big difference; mine used to be smooth and beautiful, and now the colour and feel of it has changed (though I couldn't say exactly how), and it's quite a noticable difference.

It's two things: bloating via water retention and face fat redistribution.

Also, my eyebrows are lower. I think something goes on either in forehead muscles or the skin where it's trying to accommodate for a brow ridge that won't grow.

I wonder how our bodies compensate for knuckles that don't drag in the dirt? :D

Point of information: Mens knuckles don't drag on the ground. Knuckle hair keeps them slightly elevated! Hugs, Devlyn
