The other day me and my mom were talking and she told me the story about when I was born. I was born prematurely at 6 months weighing 3 lbs. My mother's high blood pressure would not go down and doctors were worried. The doctor said, it was either me or my mom. So, she had a c-section and they kept me in an incubator with a whole bunch of electrodes and things all over my body. My mother had to pump milk out of her breasts and the hospital would feed me through a feeding tube. The doctors told my mother that more than likely I will not make it. And here I am.

I wonder sometimes if there's a link between being born prematurely and being trans.

For what it's worth, I'm one of those annoying people (I could stop here!) who shows up early for everything. Hugs, Devlyn

Actually I was born 2 weeks early, and my older Sister was born 2 months premature. But...around 17 weeks with me, my Mom had severe abdominal pains one day and was taken to the hospital and diagnosed with a threatened abortion. She spent the night in the hospital, the pain resolved/went away and she went home the next day. I believe that is the connection to my being Trans, and she does not recall being given any medications (DES).

I have a similar story. I was about nine weeks early through C-section because I apparently had heart problems, or at least that's how my mother always explained it. She was extremely sick at the time, so she hardly remembers. They told her that I probably wouldn't make it, but I'm here, alive and well... sort of.

Edit:
I asked her again out of curiosity, and I was apparently seventeen weeks too early, not nine.

I am glad someone asked this. I also was born premature although Im not sure by how much, when I was born I think I had some respritory problems and the doctors thought i would not make. I often wondered if this is why I am the way I am.
In my imagination I see a fair world,
Everyone lives in peace and in honesty there.
I dream of souls that are always free,
Like the clouds that fly,
Full of humanity in the depths of the soul.

I understand I was breach. So late. Strangely, I can't remember much about it.

Me, and my brothers (triplets!), were born premature, 2 of us were 5ish pounds whereas the other was a much healthier weight. Me and the youngest* both spent several weeks in incubators but now we're all >6ft tall!

*Youngest - technically true but only by being the last one yanked out!

Hi Jen,

I was also born prematurely and I think it has something to do with being trans. Perhaps that or a disease in the early childhood. It is good you asked this.

Me and my twin sister were born at 27 weeks weighing 2 lbs each.

I always thought as a child that if I was in longer then I would have been born a boy hahah.
The story is the same, I've just personalized the name.

Born about a month early.  Mom had lots of issues carrying me.  Plus, she had been given DES to keep from miscarrying me.

My brother was the difficult birth. I was born right on time with a completely boring, uneventful, complication-free pregnancy and birth.

From conception till a few years after puberty, everything about my development was exactly by the book. If the baby books said that something would happen at, say, five weeks, then that something happened at exactly five weeks for me.

That said, I actually caused my mom to go into and out of labor multiple times because instead of pushing with the pointy part of my head, I was apparently using my face, but that didn't cause any problems; it just took longer before she stayed in labor long enough for the hospital to accept her.

A little early, but I don't know by how much exactly. If memory serves even my Mom didn't know exactly by how much (she isn't here anymore to ask). My Mom wasn't supposed to be able to have children, so apparently when she went to her doctor and said "I think I am pregnant" he was doubtful at first.

Hahah really? That's crazyyy. I think about it now and wonder how the hell did we even survive hahah.

It's funny because our umbilical cord was attached to each other and then attached to the uterine wall. At the end of my mom's pregnancy I started to steal all the nutrition and started to get bigger and my sister wasn't getting any. We joke about it now because I've always weighed a bit more than her because I would eat all the food in the house while she would be a delicate eater.
