A poem marking my return from SRS

Melody Maia

I'm home! To mark my return and the physical and metaphorical journey I have been on for the last year and a half, I wrote the following on the plane. May not be the best, but it comes from my heart.

Some places seem beyond reach
Existing only  in our hearts
A reality in our dreams
But though we deny it
To our souls and soul-mates
We know one day
We will journey there

It is the road not taken
The fear we dare not face
The hunger and desire
We cannot forget or tame
For we have good reason
To be afraid and hide
The cost is often steep
And payment is blood and tears

Loves and lives lost
Friends bewildered
Children confused
Spouses heartbroken
An unbearable guilt
A Sophie's Choice
Between who we are
And who we must be

But there comes a time
When we must change
We transform our bodies
And our spirits follow
Shining like the stars above
And it lights the world

Our courage inspires
And our beauty is revealed
As we transition from
The nightmare to the dream
And realize we always could
For we had the power inside
To change our stars and fate

We are survivors and brave
Modern day pioneers
Facing down a world
That doesn't understand
But God doesn't make mistakes
He chose us for this path
To help and heal others
And live a life of truth
To be the change
We want to see

So I now return
Complete in body and form
Having given birth to myself
Happy in my heart
And peaceful in my soul

I have been given a gift
All too precious and rare
To reach the promised land
And remake my world

Per Aspera Ad Astra
Through Hardship, The Stars
It feels like coming home
and i know that i'm never alone
and i know that my heart is my home
Every missing piece of me
I can find in a melody

Beautiful, Melody, absolutely beautiful.  Yes, it made me cry.  Welcome back. Welcome to your new life.  You deserve it!

BTW, check my latest thread in this forum ("Yay, new ticker soon!" which I think is now on page 2) for my latest news...  ;D

Cripes, I've just spent more than 40 minutes just trying to post this - two different platforms, 3 different browsers.  It keeps locking up on me.  The forum is brutal today!

Oh it does that to be a lot Colleen.

And it is a very nice poem, I really liked. Being a poet myself. <3
