Hey, sorry if there is already a thread on this, but my phone is being difficult and I don't have access to a computer ATM.

So, I've been on t for all of four days, and I just have a question for you guys that have been on it for longer, or just starting out too, or whatever

- is it normal to cramp up? like it feels like my
Muscles are shorter and are trying to stretch, it can't be growing pain because I'm 28, but excersize seems to help it, and it's mostly happening at night

Side question,

How long after starting t, until it helps with muscle growth? (from working out while on t)

wheat thins are delicious

I found that the first few months or so on T I got a lot of muscle cramps.  I think it was muscle growth because around this time I experienced a lot of strength gain.

Yep, I had a lot of cramping to start with but it settles down.  Some vitamin B will help.  Bananas, vegemite (if you're aussie).  And I could be wrong so better to check, but I think a bit more salt in your diet.

From memory (which is getting old)  I think it was about the 6 month mark for me that I started seeing better results.

I had some cramps, too, especially when I stretched. I had to be very careful about it for quite some time.

Don't remember when I started getting bigger muscles. But I was a sex maniac on the morning of the fifth day. I happened to have a therapy appointment, and I was sort of into my therapist, and it was all I could do not to jump him. ::)

@Arch - lol!

I'm into molester mode, I feel sorry for my GF, I've been quite crude! She's not used to me being like this as I never really was before, I can contain myself but it's lots of comments, thoughts and bum squeezing!

Well, it's good to see the cramping is normal enough, I was starting to worry that I might explode or something :p

And yep Aussie! I'll have some Vegemite today and see if that helps some!

Thanks for all your help guys :)

I started seeing more results from exercise by the end of the first month, and I've had more cramps than usual ever since starting T. I got my first shot on December 14th.

I'm noticing an increase in minor injuries too, so you might want to watch out for that. I keep messing up my shoulder, and I've got shin splints. I'm 30 and have some pre-existing range-of-motion limitations but I still don't normally get hurt this easily. Adjusting with new strengths and distribution can be difficult.

Oh and hey I live in Oregon USA and I love vegemite. Grocery stores here do carry it. Everybody I know thinks it's disgusting though.

Ah sweet! Yeah, we'll I trashed my body and got really fat, lots of comfort eating, but since I came out have felt 10000000% better, and I'm working hard to get that weight off, by the time it's all off I'll likely have some sexy muscles underneath, well, after they cut off all that excess skin lol :(

Really glad we all have this place to feel comfortable and ask questions, help each other and such :)

I'm so glad that you posted this lol. I've had the worse cramps in my calves and other muscle stiffness since start T. It even crossed my mind that they might be testosterone related though. Lately when I stretch it's like I'm stretching muscles that have never been there . . if that makes sense lol. I'm relieve to read all of these comments with similar experiences :)

geek

Yeah!

When it's in my calves, if I stretch them it feels like they want to twist  :P

It's good though, looking forward to the fun stuff though!

Jumping in again to the guys threads.

When you start T and have been on it try to work out. You will build muscle mass, you will need to change you diet, add more protein.

Muscle cramps in the calves are common because you use them a lot, in walking. However, if the calves get painful to the touch and you have cramps get to the ER or even call an Ambulance. This is a sign of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) which can hit at any age and can be brought on by medication.

It is serious and needs to be checked.

Lol you're gonna freak everybody out and then I will totally tell all of them to send you the ER bills.

Not saying terrible and sudden problems don't happen or that we shouldn't know the signs. I promise I do care. ;D

Love it.

Have a friend at work who cycles to work every day. Complained about sore calves, his boss (a Med) took him to ER. He had two large DVT which would have killed him when/if they moved. Never thought about them myself before, now I get cramps in my legs all the time. :embarrassed:

Before transition, I mostly got leg cramps when I was dehydrated, but I don't remember whether upping my fluids helped me when I went on T.

It is scary stuff. I had a really really bad headache once and it turned out to be meningitis. I was like 18 so it really bowled me over that that sort of thing could even happen. And deep vein thrombosis is somewhat common, moreso with the way modern life is.

Half kidding! I didn't really get cramps before t, but I'll mention it to my doctor when I see her in just over a week :)
