Hi Everyone

First the good news. I have had my bloods done at nearly 5 months into estrogen therapy and my T is 1.81 and my E is 510 which means I am in the female range i think.   I have done this so far without an anti androgen. Hopefully this a sign of more positive changes to come.

Now for the not so good part. My TSH was 5.1 which is above the upper level for thyroid hormone and indicates Borderline Hypothyroidism. Great  I have been doing some reading and researching online and it would appear when Estrogen levels are high the E binds with the Thyroid hormone stopping it from performing its task, therefore the body releases more TSH to compensate. I have been experiencing some effects of this such as low body temp, sluggish digestion, bloating, constipation and dry hair. A bit fed up with this. Has anyone else had this happen when they have been on hormones. I am 36 and dont want my Thyroid to pack up  Also Senokot isn't working if you get my drift

I have been on thyroid medications for years (hyperthyroid) my levels are within range now with the meds.

According to the labratory my doctor uses,

Within range is .50 to 6.00 ulU/mL
Hyperthyroid <.05
Hypothyroid >6.5

So the 5.1 you stated should be within the Normal range.

The TSH number may be subjective. I recommend talking to the doc. Many docs are increasingly interpreting TSH numbers more aggressively regarding what constitutes healthy.  And if T3 and T4 (actual thyroid hormones) are otherwise ok then that is something for the doc to interpret.  The doc might also take a look at other symptoms to see if the there appears to be a problem.

  My 3rd generation TSH test results actually went down on HRT.  It was 4.64, pre HRT down to 3.54 after 5 months on HRT.  The normal limits for the 3rd generation TSH tests are, 0.40 - 4.50.  I will have another full bloodwork done at the end of March.
